Dr. J Talks Fighting Larry Bird, Playing at Rucker Park, Joel Embiid and More

For the latest installment of Vice Sports Ride Along series, NBA icon Julius “Dr. J” Erving takes us on a drive down memory lane, in a new Lexus no less. The Hall-of-Famer touches of a myriad of topics ranging from his days at Rucker Park to the current 76ers team, however maybe best of all, the ’81 MVP opens up about his infamous fight with Celtics legend Larry Bird. “I had such great respect and admiration for Larry that I really just felt like choking him,” said Erving. “We ended up fighting one time, we fought to a standstill, to a draw, and then the next day we went out and shot a converse commercial.”
