FASHION NEWS: Balenciaga Replaces Gucci as World’s Hottest Brand & MORE

Balenciaga Gucci Off White Virgil Abloh Raf Simons Stone Island Kanye West Cardi B Drake Nicki Minaj Pharrell Williams Lyst Business of Fashion
It’s been a good year for Balenciaga, with the Demna Gvasalia-helmed fashion house now climbing above Gucci to be named the hottest brand in the world. According to the latest installment of the Lyst Index — the fashion search platform’s quarterly report — Balenciaga continued to rise through the rankings due to “a new logo and colette residency kept the brand top of the mind, while Demna Gvasalia continues to design products that drive the fashion narrative online.”
Along with Balenciaga and Gucci, other big scorers included Raf Simons (in at 10th), Stone Island (which climbed from 41st to 8th) and Off-White™, as Virgil Abloh‘s brand rose 31 places to come in third. The third quarter report is also the first time that Lyst has monitored the influence of rappers as brand ambassadors, with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, Cardi B and Drake making up the top five.
Head over to Business of Fashion to read the top 10 for both categories, and refresh your memory of how they all did in the last index.
Rick Owens Retrospective Triennale Di Milano Italy Museum Exhibit 2017 December 15 2018 March 25 SUBHUMAN INHUMAN SUPERHUMAN OWENSCORP
Following his recent work with New York’s MoMA, Rick Owens has announced his latest artistic endeavor; Milan’s Triennale Di Milano will host a retrospective based on the California-born, Paris-based designer.
The Fashion Department curator at the Triennale Di Milano, Eleonora Fiorani, suggested an exhibition entirely dedicated to Rick Owens — that initial concept yielded this showcase, dubbed “SUBHUMAN INHUMAN SUPERHUMAN.” Owens had complete control over the exhibit, which will juxtapose a selection of clothing from Owens’s archive with furniture, film, a sculptural installation and other facets chosen and designed by the designer. Based around an exploration of Owens’s influences, the show will trace various themes and influences found throughout his work which includes artists like Alessandro Manzoni, Pierre Molinier, Marcel Duchamp and more.
The exhibit opens on December 14 at 7 p.m. and runs until March 25, 2018 at the Triennale Di Milano. In other fashion news, the world’s most desirable label, Balenciaga, has released its “SINNERS” capsule collection.
