TOYS: A Shipment of Rare Goku Figures May be Lost at Sea Due to a Pacific Storm
A shipment of rare Goku figures may have been lost at sea. According to a new report from Reuters, a container ship named ONE Apus was hit by a massive storm in the Pacific Ocean on November 30, causing the ship to roll and lose nearly 2,000 shipping containers at sea. While no one on board was harmed, the accident roughly caused a possible $200 million USD in losses, and part of those shipments lost could very well contain a series of rare Dragon Ball figures from Bandai.
The models in question come from Premium Bandai’s Figuarts series, and depict Goku in his Ultra Instinct Sign transformation. They were originally planned for release exclusively at an event, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the event was cancelled and Bandai decided to release them online instead. All pre-orders were sold out within just 15 minutes of going live, and many have already taken to Ebay to flip the figure for double its price.
As of now, there’s no confirmation from Bandai if the shipments lost at sea do in fact contain these rare Goku models, but the company has nonetheless sent out an email to those who purchased it, updating them with the news. “The containership that carried Bandai products was hit by severe storm and lost many containers near Hawaii,” the email reads. “The ship is at Port of Kobe, Japan for investigating its damages. It will take several weeks to over a month. We are currently waiting to hear about the container’s status from the authority, and we’ll announce any shipping information as soon as it’s available.”
The company has yet to make any public announcements regarding the incident.
Standing around 12 inches tall, the highly accurate re-creation of Johnny Silverhand boasts over 30 points of articulation, with impeccable attention to detail placed on the head sculpt of Reeves himself. The other highlight of the collectible comes in the form of his game-accurate cybernetic arm, featuring a series of mechanical details.
Of course, as with any other Hot Toys release, the current figure also comes with a whole range of accessories and swappable hand gestures to allowing different poses. Included is his iconic Malorian Arms 3516 pistol, a guitar, a duffel bag, his signature sunglasses, a dog-tag necklace, a wristband, and even a bottle of liquor.
Hot Toys’ upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Johnny Silverhand 1:6 scale figure will arrive sometime in the middle of 2022.

NEWS:
George Clooney has revealed that he advised Ben Affleck against taking on the Batman role following his own experience with the Caped Crusader in Joel Schumacher‘s 1997 film Batman and Robin, but the actor and director decided to go forward anyway.
Speaking to Howard Stern on his radio show, Clooney said he warned Affleck of his opportunity, but he ultimately realized he was wrong about it. “I’ve been a big flop and I’ve bombed in things. And, I’ve had big successes and it doesn’t mean that they listened,” he said. “Ben didn’t listen to me and he ended up doing a great job and I was wrong. But, I can only impart my wisdom from my experience. I just said don’t have nipples on the suit.”
Clooney continued by recounting his largely negative experience with his own version. “I couldn’t have done that one differently, you know? It’s a big machine, that thing. You got to remember at that point I was just an actor getting an acting job. I wasn’t the guy that could greenlight a movie. They paid Arnold 25 million dollars to be in it. They paid me like one, and we never even worked together. We never saw each other. It’s a big monster machine, and I just sort of jumped in and did what they said. The truth of the matter is, I was bad in it.”As 2021 continues to creep closer, Frito-Lay‘s Doritos is bringing back Doritos 3D to kick off another decade. Originally discontinued with the arrival of Y2K, the ’90s kids-favorite is returning with the revamped Doritos 3D Crunch.

The newly improved puffed tortilla chip serves to deliver another dimension of flavor that builds on the icon of the 1990s.
To celebrate the release, Frito Lay is partnering with Ali Landy, aka the “Doritos Girl” that helped launch Doritos 3D with a memorable laundromat commercial, with the launch of a nationwide challenge. Paying homage to the original commercial, fans are asked to catch Doritos 3D Crunch in their mouth in the boldest ways possible on TikTok with the #Doritos3DChallenge starting December 28.To cap off the year, Medicom Toy has further expanded upon its lineage of MAFEX figures by transforming NBA legend Michael Jordan into a living room staple. In early 2020, the collectibles imprint paid homage to LeBron James by crafting the “kid from Akron” in his Los Angeles Lakers home threads.
The toy stands in at 16cm in height, and translates the look of the six-time champion and his classic Chicago Bulls away uniforms with great detail. Accessories arrive by way of black sweat bands and knee pads both dressed up on his left arm and leg, in addition to a pair of white crew socks and a fresh pair of Air Jordan 11 “Concords”— the colorway oft-seen during Jordan’s historic historic 1995-1996 season with the Bulls in which they went on to win 72 regular season games and the championship.
In addition, the figure also comes packaged with multiple hands and basketballs, an extra head that displays his signature tongue-out facial expression, the ever-classicAir Jordan 6 “Infrared” and the iconic Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago”.
If you’re still riding the wave of The Last Dance and want to add this GOAT-inspired piece to your home, it’s available right now via select retailers like Slam Jam for £157 (approx. $211 USD).
FASHION: 10 of the Best Collabs For Your Gift List This Year
2020 might have been rough — to say the least — but it was a golden year for collabs. We’ve seen everything from the insanely popular to the wildly unexpected. Perhaps the events of this year have encouraged brands to work together more creatively – or perhaps all that extra spare time meant they had longer to perfect their offerings.
It felt fitting, then, to round-up some of the best collaborations out there that are still available right now, as part of HYPEBEAST’s holiday gift guide. From sneaker partnerships to luxury link-ups, these are some of our favourites at every price point. Happy shopping.

New Balance x Levi’s
Release Price: $175 USD

Why You Should Cop: When it dropped at the end of October, New Balance and Levi’s take on the 327 was a late but strong contender for one of this year’s standout sneaker collabs. Thankfully, there are still some pairs available.
Loewe x Ken Price
Release Price: $330 USD
Where to Buy: Loewe
Why You Should Cop: The colourful, cartoonish, and Californian aesthetic of the artist Ken Price was a smart fit for the luxury house Loewe, when the two came together in November. This graphic-printed tee was a highlight.
Adidas x Wales Bonner

Where to Buy: Vitkac
Why You Should Cop: The British designer Grace Wales Bonner is known for her refined, faintly 70s style – one that transposed surprisingly well onto the adidas (XETRA:ADS.DE +2.09%) Samba. The clothing in this collab also deserves an honorable mention.

Where to Buy: Converse
Why You Should Cop: It’s been a banner year for Telfar Clemens – his bags have become a bonafide grail item, and he rounded it out with this pretty pleasing link-up with Converse.

Brain Dead x Magic The Gathering
Release Price: $253 USD
Where to Buy: Brain Dead
Why You Should Cop: This qualifies as one of the year’s least-expected matches: the skate brand Brain Dead coming together with the (proudly) geeky game Magic: The Gathering. Even more weirdly, it worked.
Nike x Stüssy
Release Price: $47 USD
Where to Buy: Slam Jam
Why You Should Cop: Nike (NYSE:NKE -1.09%) and Stüssy’s December collab sold fast, and most of the pieces are now gold dust. But there are still a few gems still to be copped – like these logo-branded slides.
