THE BEST-DRESSED GUESTS AT THE BRITISH FASHION AWARDS 2024

The 2024 British Fashion Awards took place tonight at London’s Albert Hall and once again, a star-studded guest list of attendees took to the red carpet to showcase their flashiest fits — despite the UK’s wintery weather. Hosted by Maya Jama — who wore a custom Conner Ives gown — and Kojey Radical in Etro, this year’s edition saw the likes of international superstars Rihannaand A$AP Rocky in attendance, plus Tems, Issa Rae and Julia Fox alongside British celebrities like Olivia Neill, Rita Ora and Jourdan Dunn.

This year’s winners included it-girl Alex Consani for Model of the Year, with Grace Wales Bonnerwinning Best Menswear Designer, Simone Rocha winning for womenswear and Priya Ahluwaliawinning the New Establishment Menswear Award. Jonathan Anderson took home the Designer of the Year award for a second time, while A$AP Rocky was celebrated with the “Cultural Innovator” award.

As always, stars turned up and turned out with their red carpet looks this year, with Michele Lamyarriving in Rick Owens (of course) alongside Joe Jonas in Prada, Ambika Mod and Jamie Dornan in LOEWE and Alva Claire supporting Rihanna’s favorite designer, Jawara Alleyne. Elsewhere, the award ceremony saw David Koma‘s Blumarine debut, with Ashley Graham, Lily McMenamy and Georgia Palmer sporting the designer’s first-ever looks for the brand.

SCOPE Art Show 2024: What's On View

At Miami Beach, SCOPE Art Show is heating up for its 23rd edition, now through December 8, 2024. In line with this year’s theme of Interdependence, the show is bringing together over 85 international exhibitors from 15 countries to celebrate the power of creative collaboration. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on view so far.

Art and sport become one at GCS Gallery’s solo spotlight on Nikkolos Mohammed, capturing the rhythm of competition in his bold collage-like works. Dr. Esther Mahlangu’s 26 foot painting “Ukuthula Makube Nawe (Peace Be With You)” delivers a tender message of peace while Lucy Sparrow’s Produce family portraits features a sweet display of her signature smiling felt fruits.

Elsewhere, artists look to texture as a dialogue of collaboration and collective memory. At John Doe Gallery, nuggets of nostalgia echo the flux and fade of an airbrushed surface, while Lovewatt’s presentation reimagines moments of pop culture under a vibrant light. In the show’s central lounge, Hypeart is making its SCOPE debut with works by Stickymonger, UFO907 and KATSU exploring the liberatory power of spray paint, alongside a special ASICS installation featuring CHITO’s snarling dog signatures.

Hirshhorn Museum Pairs Basquiat and Banksy in Groundbreaking Exhibition//APE Unveils Trio of Colorful Camo Type 2 BAPEX Watches

The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C., is set to showcase a unique pairing of works by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Banksy. Opening later this month, the year-long exhibition will feature Basquiat’s 1982 painting “Boy and Dog in a Johnnypump,” reportedly purchased by hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin for over $100 million USD as per Artnet.

The work will be displayed alongside Banksy’s reimagined version, which includes stenciled police officers frisking Basquiat’s skeletal figure. Banksy originally created the piece outside London’s Barbican Centre to highlight the irony of a street artist being exhibited in a museum that typically erases graffiti.

Both artists have a history of using public spaces for their work, with Basquiat emerging from the graffiti duo SAMO and Banksy’s guerrilla art gaining global attention. They have also become auction powerhouses—Basquiat’s record-setting $110.5 million USD painting and Banksy’s “Love Is in the Bin” selling for $25.4 million USD.

The Hirshhorn show will also include 20 smaller Basquiat works and a screening of ‘Downtown 81,’ a semi-autobiographical film starring the artist. ‘Basquiat × Banksy’ will be on view from September 29, 2024, to October 26, 2025.

SW, Washington, DC 20560BAPE has updated its Type 2 BAPEX wristwatch watch with a trio of new color schemes. The silver watch has rolled out a few different iterations over the years.

This new release offers a colorful take on BAPE’s distinct ABC camouflage print. Each of the watches features a face with the camo, along with a jeweled bezel of Cubic Zirconia.

A stainless steel silver bracelet provides a clean and crisp backdrop for bright blue, pink and green versions of the Type 2 BAPEX. Matching the color of the face, light-colored crystals encircle the bottom of the bezel, while deeper colors form the top.

The forthcoming trio of camo Type 2 BAPEX watches will launch online and in-store on September 14.

Timberland's New Campaign Is "ICONIC" Indeed

Timberland had to go big to celebrate the legacy of its infamous Original Yellow Boot. While the boot celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, the workwear imprint isn’t done spotlighting its signature footwear offering quite yet. In the new, incredibly aptly entitled “ICONIC” campaign, Timberland taps four equally as iconic creatives – Naomi Campbell, Teddy Swims, Slawn, and Kai-Isaiah Jamal – to front a captivating new shoot.

Campbell leads the lookbook and leaves little to the imagination, donning nothing but her Original Yellow Boots. Singer-songwriter Swims poses for a striking shot where his grills glow and his OG Boots are slung over his shoulder. “Through the generations, [the Original Yellow Boot] has been consistent,” says Swims. “It’s a powerful boot that represents style in such a way that never changes. It’s always fresh no matter what year it is, no matter what you put on.”

Nigerian artist Slawn expands on that sentiment, stating “The Original Yellow Boot is classic. Sexy. Very me. I’ve got like six pairs.”

Model, poet, and non-binary, trans visibility activist Jamal completes the campaign, adding “For me, ‘iconic’ are things that have legacy, history, and cultural footprints. Ultimately the story behind Timberland and the way in which culture was embraced and has birthed from it a new culture… for me, that is deeply iconic.”

Last year alone, Timberland linked up with Louis Vuitton, Wales Bonner, and White Mountaineering to rework the silhouette.

ZARA'S KATE MOSS COLLECTION IS COMING SOON

Drawing on disco, seventies style and Moss’s own wardrobe as sources of inspiration.

Zara has recently been on a roll with its collaborations. From regular team-ups with fashion royalty like Nick Knight and stylist to the stars Harry Lambert to a recent announcement with Samuel Ross, the high-street retailer appears to be edging into a new era. Its latest venture? A collaboration with the iconic supermodel Kate Moss.

Presenting a new Fall/Winter 2024-25 collection, the new team-up arrives just in time for party season and takes inspiration from Moss’s own wardrobe of contemporary classics. Co-designed with the supermodel’s stylist Katy England, the collection fuses disco references with a hint of rock’n'roll, drawing on seventies style, Studio 54 and Led Zeppelin as additional sources of inspiration.

“I’ve enjoyed working with Zara on campaigns over the years and always loved their collaborations so when Marta and I first talked about this project I was excited… getting to design clothes again and work with Katy England,” Moss begins in a press release. “For this collection, I wanted to create the perfect party capsule – pieces that feel effortlessly chic but with an edge. Mixing classic cuts with just the right amount of glam to take you through the party season,” she adds.

Celebrating the collection is a new campaign lensed by two of Moss’s favorite photographers (and all-around icons) Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
