MUSIC: Prince Memoir, 'The Beautiful Ones,' Gets Official Release Date

prince memoir the beautiful ones book release date fall october 29
Originally expected to be available in 2018, Prince’s memoir, The Beautiful Ones, is now set to release this year on October 29. The book will be published by Random House, with the date having also been confirmed by the Prince Estate earlier today on Instagram.
There will be never-before-seen photos and other content in the memoir, including original scrapbooks and lyric sheets penned by the late musician. In addition, the 50 pages that Prince began writing before his passing in 2016 will also be incorporated in the work.
The Beautiful Ones retails for $30 USD and is available to pre-order now from Random House’s website.
This announcement is timely as fans, friends and other beloved ones paid homage to the artist over the weekend, as April 21 marked the third anniversary of his passing. The legendary singer is also expected to be commemorated in the near future with a Netflix documentary series directed by Ava DuVernay.

Following Gucci‘s recent ’70s-inspired pre-fall campaign, the Italian atelier has worked with Spazio Extra MAXXI on a photographic exhibition focusing on the work of Paolo Di Paolo. Titled “PAOLO DI PAOLO. Mondo perduto,” the exhibition highlights 1950s and ’60s Italy and its stars.
In a retrospective featuring 250 images and over 250,000 negatives, contact sheets, prints and slides captured by Di Paolo — a photographer for the intellectual magazine Il Mondo – the MAXXI exhibition will feature images that are mostly never before seen and too inappropriate for publication. Paolo’s daughter Silvia found the archival images in a cellar around 20 years ago, and today his work features in an immersive experience which reconstructs the newsroom at Il Mondo, with desks, lamps and images of Mario Pannunzio at work with his copyeditors.
Divided into sections such as “Society/Rome”, “Society/World” and “Film,” Paolo’s images capture Italy post-World War II in a series of photographs that explore the country’s divide. The exhibition sees a society where its agricultural community coexisted with the Ferrari workshops, but also captures members of the high society visiting Rome, such as Irene Brin of Harper’s Bazaar.
Portraits of painters, poets, writers and film stars feature throughout the exhibition, with notable mentions including Tennessee Williams, Lucio Fontana and Italian film star Anna Magnani. Releasing alongside the exhibition is “Paolo Di Paolo. Mondo Perduto. Fotografie 1954 – 1968,” a photographic book showcasing Paolo’s photography.
Exhibition curator Giovanna Calvenzi said of the showcase, “Di Paolo found an independent, different, cultured path. He has the capacity of entering the world of art, literature and film with a light, and at times humorous, touch.”
To see the collection of photographs on display, head to the Spazio Extra MAXXI from April 17 to June 30, 2019.

Paying homage to the Nike Air Force 1 and its many Swoosh designs over the years, BespokeIND has splashed the silhouette with a colorful take on some of the most popular renditions. References from the likes of NIGO, Virgil Abloh and Tyler, the Creator get patched onto the custom kicks in the shoe customizer’s upcoming release.
Dubbed the Nike Air Force 1 “What The Swoosh,” the bright sneakers are swathed with buttery suede panels that have been coated in a spectrum of bold tones. Among them, shades of cherry red, orange, gold, fuchsia and neon green make for a colorblocked design throughout.
Meanwhile, each Nike check iteration gets a different treatment on every side. BespokeIND layers Abloh’s signature zig-zag version on the medial, while NIGO’s BAPESTA Star and Tyler, the Creator’s GOLF le FLEUR edition hold down the lateral. A crisp white outsole and white laces make for a seamless finish.
Only eight pairs of the sneakers will be available and they officially release at BespokeIND’s website beginning April 22 at 9 p.m. EST.

Eric Emanuel and adidas Originals are back with another sports-influenced collaboration, this time ushering in a romantic side that takes inspiration from floral hotel wallpaper. On a recent trip to Paris, Emanuel recounted his memories of basketball excursions and fashion weeks, leading him to infuse the collection with a rosy print fitted for the springtime.
The 10-piece assortment encompasses apparel and footwear, including track pants, athletic shorts, an anorak, hoodie, headband and two sneakers. Emanuel puts his spin on the Rivalry Hi OG and Restomod silhouettes, offering patterned and solid designs for variety. The Rivalry Hi gets the full floral treatment, which rests on a premium leather upper full of dusty pink details.
Meanwhile, the Restomod is more subdued with a sandy “Linen” foundation. Dark green laces and the adidas Three Stripes branding lend a nod to the natural vibe. The flower-laden motif makes small appearances elsewhere around the shoe, including the tongue, pull tab and heel. Sand tones remain throughout the clothing, while pink accents and floral paneling link back to the wallpaper aesthetic for a head-to-toe look.
“I’ve grown since I was that kid on the road for a tournament; I’ve travelled, I’ve been exposed to a world much bigger and more beautiful than the younger me ever got to see. I find a reference on every trip, and this collection is a reflection of a Spring trip to Paris,” said Emanuel.
Priced between $20 USD – $180 USD, the EE x adidas Originals collection will be available to shop beginning on April 25 at Emanuel’s webstore. It rolls out to specialty retailers such as KITH NY and Extra Butter, as well as adidas’ website, on April 27.

After releasing a set of elevated trainers cloaked in 19th century Chinese textiles, By Walid has draped the silhouette in a crisp white colorway for its latest release. The monochromatic sneaker retains its patched construction throughout, while a milky white base gives it a bleached-out aesthetic.
Distressed fabric swatches are layered along the upper, lending the style a pebbled texture from front to back. The model’s chunky white rubber sole and tonal laces provide a clean, streamlined look. A “By Walid” logo stamped in gold on the heel rounds it out with a luxe detail.
Priced at $573 USD, By Walid’s 19th Century Fabric Sneakers are available to purchase now from Browns’ webstore.
