After claiming Rookie of the Year honors last year, LaMelo Ball has continued to season his game even more, solidifying himself as one of the most entertaining point guards in the Association. As every brand should when it has a superstar like Ball in the making, PUMA (XETRA:PUM.DE -0.41%) blessed him with his first signature sneaker titled the PUMA MB.01, and it’s about to drop in a trifecta of new colorways this February. On deck, the German sportswear imprint has prepared a collaboration with Rick & Morty, a “Buzz City” colorway and a “Grey/Red” makeup.
The standout offering in this batch is without a doubt the team-up with Rick & Morty. The mismatching pair is inspired by the Adult Swim duo and their intergalactic misadventures. The left shoe is drenched with a vivid green exterior with bold red accents and comes accessorized with Rick’s face on the inside of the tongues. The other half employs the opposite palette by arriving with a mostly red outfit and green branding while Morty’s face is pasted inside the kicks.
Next in line is the “Buzz City” iteration which is a direct shout out to the Charlotte Hornets. A majority of the real estate is dyed in a solid black hue and comes furnished with “Blue Atoll” hits throughout to translate the franchise’s team colors. The “Grey/Red” installment is last in this lineup. Multiple shades of gray take shape on the base layers and sole pieces of this inline offering, allowing the bold red wing embroidery and branding to overtly stand out.
The “Buzz City” will hit the shelves on February 2 followed by the Rick & Mortycollaboration and “Grey/Red” renditions on February 18. The “Buzz City” and “Grey/Red” styles will retail for $125 USD while the Rick & Morty version will be priced at $135 USD.
Nike (NYSE:NKE -0.55%) is slated to give its Air Force 1 Mid quite the eventful year of releases as archival GRs and collaborations with the likes of Stüssy and Off-White™ ️are expected to launch. For the inline category, the Swoosh team has dug back in the vault to bring back the Air Force 1 Mid “Independence Day” that originally released in 1997.
As you can probably deduce from its moniker, this upcoming retro offering brings a USA-appropriate color-blocking to the fore. The base is formed with a premium tumbled leather build that is supplied with clean white skins atop the tongues, toe boxes collars and mid-foot. American flag-friendly hits of “University Red” and “Midnight Navy” then complement the upper, the former being applied to the Nike logos atop the tongues, heels straps, lower throat and jeweled Swooshes while the latter is dropped off on the overlays and straps with a glossy finish. Silver lace dubraes bring in more branding as they are debossed with an “AF-1” hit. Bottoms are devised with angelic midsole pieces while the treading is crafted with a translucent exterior.
