MoMA Design Store has launched resin editions of Yayoi Kusama’s recognizable pumpkin sculptures in white/red and yellow/black colorways. These lacquer-painted gourds are 10 x 7.5cm versions of the artist’s larger-scale works. As one of Kusama’s most well-known motifs, the pumpkin brings back childhood memories and serves as a “solid spiritual base,” while incorporating her prolific polka dot pattern.

Banksy and KAWS have linked up for a private selling exhibition entitled “Ten Monkeys and a Dolphin: Banksy & KAWS.” Hosted by auction company Phillips, the show feature a series of rare paintings, prints and sculptures — including Banksy’s Mona Lisa Pink. Spray painted on canvas, the 75 x 75cm work showcases Mona Lisa in contrasting black and pink, while a white horizontal stripe runs through the center of the painting.

Known as the “Godfather of Graffiti,” world-renown graffiti artist SEEN first started painting in the New York City Subway stations in the ’70s. Since then, his painted pieces have become iconic images of the time. SEEN has now released three original paintings showcasing his unique tags spray painted on canvases in seven different colors.

Nike's Sustainable 2020 Tokyo Olympics Athlete Uniforms

Following its Summer 2020 collection in collaboration with five iconic designers, Nike has unveiled its new federation uniforms for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The new range includes apparel for U.S. basketball athletes, progressive advances in track and field kits and vibrant styles for those competing in skateboarding.

The U.S. women’s basketball team’s red uniform features classic blocked typography on the chest. The garment’s navy side panels are an ode to previous designs, while the twelve stars stand for the number of players on the team. The 2020 Athletics uniform pieces for track and field athletes have been engineered from the company’s new Dri-FIT Aeroswift material that helps manage sweat. Finally, skateboarding athletes representing the States, France and Brazil will sport uniforms designed by Dutch artist Parra made out of 100 percent recycled polyester arriving in bold patterns to celebrate each nation’s unique skate culture.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics commences on July 24 so in the meantime, take a detailed look at the pieces in the gallery above.

Following its special five-pack of Olympic Ring-colored Air Max 97s, Nike has unveiled another iteration to the classic silhouette ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Dubbed “Gold Medal,” the shoe is dressed in gold from head-to-toe, sporting subtle accents of black and red.

The sneaker arrives in its signature design featuring a wave panel constructed with a metallic gold upper, 3M reflective accents and a full-length Air Max unit. Subtle hints of black tones can be found throughout the collar, while touches of red hues have been incorporated on the heel pull and underfoot Swoosh. Rounding out the pair is the brand’s iconic Swoosh branding embossed on the mid panel and tongue.

There is no official release date for the Air Max 97 “Gold Medal” yet, so stay tuned while we wait for more details to surface.

ART: Artist Matthew Stone Creates a Surreal Campaign for Gentle Monster's Latest Collection

British artist Matthew Stone, who recently collaborated with FKA Twigs on the cover art for her 2019 album MAGDALENE, has created a dizzying new campaign for eyewear brand Gentle Monster. The series of images debut Gentle Monster’s “MY MARS” collection, a range of futuristic sunglasses inspired by the subconscious.

Combining traditional painted brush-strokes with digital manipulation, Stone depicts a series of lifelike yet surreal figures wearing updated versions of the brand’s signature cat-eye Krow and shield-like Makina shades. Though Stone’s work conceals the sunglasses’ colorways under a layering of textures, know that Gentle Monster’s new styles arrive in lime green, rosy pink and cantaloupe-tinted lenses.

FASHION: G-SHOCK & GUCCI

G-SHOCK is set to release its popular GMAS110, GMAS120 and GMDS6900 watches in a ’90s-inspired colorway. The “Transparent x Rose Gold” collection applies clear cases, resin bands and rose gold faces to a series of three models channeling popular styles from back in the day.

The updated GMAS110SR-7A and GMAS120SR-7A feature circular cases with large side buttons while the GMDS6900SR boasts the brand’s signature “three-eye” digital LCD display with an EL backlight. All three watches are shock-resistant and include calendar, stopwatch, countdown and alarm features. They’re also water resistant up to 200 meters.

The G-SHOCK “Transparent x Rose Gold” collection releases mid-February in-store and at G-SHOCK’s website. The GMAS models will retail for $140 USD and the GMDS will price at $110 USD.

Gucci has revived its archival Tennis 1977 sneaker, refreshing the low-top model in seven new colorways. For both men and women, the silhouette arrives in a Mickey Mouse print from the recent Disney x Gucci collection, as well as solid and monogram colorways.

The “GG Apple Print” applies a repeating illustration of a monogrammed red apple to a beige canvas base while “Mini GG Print” combines a shrunken monogram with Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse. Plain monogram colorways are available in navy blue and light blue, accented with dark green and bright orange rubber detailing, respectively. For those who prefer to keep it simple, the sneaker also comes in solid beige, navy and aqua hues with a single green-and-red Gucci stripe down the lateral.

Gucci’s Tennis 1977 sneaker ranges from approximately $562 to $626 USD and is now available on the Gucci website.
