A group of Brooklyn-based artists is teaming up with the nostalgic Instagram page, @PopCultureDiedin2009, to launch an exhibition packed with early 2000s celebrity fauna. Dubbed “Welcome to Nicole Richie’s Memorial Day BBQ,” the ’00s-inspired showcase will feature Richie’s infamous invite to the aforesaid BBQ alongside a slew of tabloid-worthy moments. Not to be missed, revisit the days of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton’s outlandish club outings and Naomi Campbell doing community service in a Dolce & Gabbana gown.
The exhibit will spotlight artwork from Laura Collins, Derek Covington Smith, Tiny Stitchers, Lila Freeman, Randy G, Natassha Kwb, and more. The presentation is set to officially launch on July 29 and will last until August 11 at The Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan 1994 Museum.

Alice Cooper Discovers Rare Andy Warhol Little Electric Chair Silkscreen

Alice Cooper never knew he owned a $10 million USD Andy Warhol silkscreen. According to The Guardian, the legendary rock star recently discovered the rare artwork rolled up in a tube “where it lay forgotten for more than 40 years” in his storage unit. The aforesaid artwork is one of several Little Electric Chair silk screen iterations from Warhol’s “Death and Disaster” series. Cooper’s girlfriend at the time had purchased the artwork as a gift for Cooper at approximately $2,500 USD back in the early 1970s. Salvador Dalí’s Body Exhumed, Mustache Still Intact

Last week, great surrealist artist Salvador Dalí‘s corpse was exhumed in Figueres, Spain. The story only gets more surreal when forensic examiners proclaimed that the luminary’s iconic mustache was still intact 28 years after his death. What’s with the exhumation? Well, a 61-year-old tarot card reader named Pilar Abel has claimed she is Dalí’s daughter—though the artist never had any children with his wife, Gala Dalí. Miraculously, a Spanish judge ordered DNA testing on Dalí’s body resulting in the exhumation. Experts have extracted DNA samples from his teeth, nails, as well as hair roots. Paternity test results are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

If you’re planning on visiting Japan, you may want to add the Gotokuji Temple to your list of must-see spots. The Buddhist temple is right by the Gotokuji stop on the Odakyu line in Tokyo and it’s a sizable shrine for thousands of maneki neko—cat statues that are said to bring great fortune to its owners. All cat sculptures were meticulously handcrafted and painted white alongside red and gold accents.

Sajjad Musa’s “Break Bread” Exhibition in NYC

Brooklyn-based multimedia artist Sajjad Musa is set to launch his new “Break Bread” weekend exhibit. The showcase will feature an extensive array of artwork from his currency collage art series. Musa has an affinity for collecting paper bills from all around the world to create intricate artwork that reflects “society’s view of money as a Dystopian catalyst of division and separation among people,” said the artist in a statement.

ART: Thrasher’s “Skateboard Hieroglyphics” Is a Wacky Guide to Shredding in Ancient Egypt

James Callahan of Barf Comics and Nowhere Skateboards has created an amusing series of illustrations for Thrasher Magazine, depicting what skateboarding culture would be like in Ancient Egypt. Aptly dubbed Skateboard Hieroglyphics, the ridiculous artwork is filled with famous Egyptian gods, figures and tropes alongside references from today’s millennial generation.
From a papyrus Tinder match to a gang of skaters shredding King Tut’s tomb, take a look at the illustrations above. If there ever was a guide to skateboarding Ancient Egypt, this should be it.

Fourteen years after the arrival of the original Bentley Continental GT, the luxury vehicle manufacturer

has decided to breathe new life into the iconic ride with another spin on the car. For 2017, Bentley has

unveiled plans for the Bentley Continental GT Convertible Timeless Series. Boasting a wide range of

vibrant interior luxuries, the latest from the high-end automaker features striking chrome grilles and a

variety of optional add-ons and special components. From “logo-projector lights” to extravagant

door-sill tread plates, the new Continental GT Convertible Timeless Series has plenty of customization

options to empty out your savings account.
Regarding technical specifications, the American market will receive models with 6.0-liter twin-turbo

W12 engines and 21-inch wheels; European and British customers can expect their vehicles to come

with the Bentley V8 S  engine and 20-inch (or, 21-inch if they choose) wheels.

Last October, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its X-Class pickup truck in concept form, promising a production version to come in the future; today the X-Class has officially made its debut.
The new X-Class series has a domineering 1920mm x 5340mm body using an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The vehicle has four engine offerings: two four-cylinder diesels, a four-cylinder gas engine, and a V6 diesel. It’ll also be offered in both rear and all-wheel drive with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic, respectively. The Mercedes-Benz X-Class will be available in three variants: The PURE basic variant for classic robust use, PROGRESSIVE for a higher quality feel and comfort, and POWER as the high-end variant for urban lifestyles. The vehicle is also capable of carrying cargo up to 1.1 tons with a drag force of 3.5 tons. The X-Class has a more luxurious interior compared to its G-Class wagon, flaunting a wide and open feel, including a freestanding central 8.4-inch display, in conjunction with the command online multimedia system.

Dapper Dan to Mentor VFILES Runway Designers

Last month, Gucci acknowledged the influence of the legendary Dapper Dan on the Italian luxury brand’s latest major collection. Now, a more recently-established fashion industry power player has linked up with the veteran innovator to help mentor some of its own runway designers. Continuing to utilize creative methods to build its team, VFILES has reached out to Dapper Dan to aid in the evolution of its most vital creators. Joining a lineage that includes influential industry figures such like Virgil Abloh and Pat McGrath, Dapper Dan has been selected to aid in the mentoring of VFILES’ runway architects.
“One of the biggest things about street style now is that there is a lot of gender fluidity,” Dapper Dan explains in a newly-released statement. “People are taking more risks, especially with color choices and silhouettes, which is really exciting because it allows for more possibilities and it is much different than the way things used to be… I like that, I like that whole scene and what’s taking place right now — the way it’s emerging, the way it’s developing. My mission with fashion is to help take it there!”
With Art + Commerce’s founder and managing director by his side, Dapper Dan will begin mentoring VFILES runway designers in the immediate future. To showcase the knowledge and artistic tools they have learned from the pair, the lucky designers will conduct a special VFILES runway show on September 6 at New York Fashion Week.
Earlier this month, VFILES collaborated with Billionaire Boys Club for a vibrant run of graphic t-shirts.
