WHIPS: The Andy Warhol x BMW M1 Celebrates 40 Years With Stunning Photoshoot

From Hot Rods to the Volkswagen Camper Van to Mini Coopers, cars have long served as the canvas for the imaginative few to create amazing works of art, but perhaps the most famous of them all is the BMW M1 — graced by the work of none other than pop artist Andy Warhol himself, exactly 40 years ago.
Using his signature technique of wide brush strokes and striking, vibrant colors to create an abstract yet emotive aesthetic, this highly-regarded work of art incredibly took Warhol less than 30 minutes to complete. Despite his art, Warhol was truly passionate about the M1: “I love this car. It’s more successful than the artwork,” the legendary artist said.
Turning 40 this year, this Andy Warhol’s BMW M1 Art Car once again found the spotlight when 29-year-old Munich-based photography Stephan Bauer decided to choose a photoshoot with the car as the reward for winning BMW’s social media photography competition last year. The resulting photoshoot, which you can view above, saw the amazing car stationed against the backdrop of an old factory building in Cologne, striking a brilliant contrast between the lively vibrance of a speed machine and the decay of an abandoned industrial building, forever immortalizing Warhol’s artistic vision.
BEYOND MEAT:

UPDATE (August 28, 2019): KFC’s test run of its Beyond Meat fried chicken substitute was reportedly a big success. According to sources, the selected Atlanta branch completely sold out its supply in less than five hours, with lines outside beginning to form at 8 AM. While no firm number was provided, the chain revealed that the amount of Beyond Chicken sold is equivalent to the amount of popcorn chicken the branch sells in a week.
There is currently no word on what KFC and Beyond Meat will do next with their partnership, but the fast food chain will examine the dry run’s data and customer feedback for a better understanding of the demand for plant-based meat.
ORIGINAL POST (August 26, 2019): Colonel Sanders‘ 11 herb and spices will find itself sprinkled upon KFC and Beyond Meat‘s brand new plant-based vegan fried chicken this coming Tuesday (August 27) in Atlanta. The traditional fast-food chicken joint will partner with Beyond Meat to become the first chain to introduce a vegan chicken alternative. In an interview in May, KFC’s U.S. head stated they did not have plans to introduce a vegan alternative, but that it would be meeting with major suppliers to learn more about meatless meats. Around the same time, Beyond Meat pulled its vegan chicken from grocery stories after stating it was not up to standards.
Depending on customer reaction, KFC will decide how to move forward with the product for an eventual nationwide release. The alternative meat strategy has been a success for other restaurant chains such as Burger King and its Impossible Burger, with KFC hoping the alternate option will bring in vegan customers and those who are cutting down on their meat intake.

For those that have yet to try Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen‘s popular Chicken Sandwich, the fast-food purveyor recently announced that its highly sought after menu item will be sold out in the next few days.
Weeks ahead of schedule, Popeyes’ original supply was forecasted to last seven weeks but demand seen in the last two weeks since its launch has ensured that sales of the sandwich will need to be halted. In its statement, the chain noted that it is “working tirelessly” with its suppliers to bring the sandwich back to its restaurants across the country as soon as possible. Taking the chance to ask customers to download the Popeyes app in the App Store or Google Play and sign up for push notifications to be alerted once the highly sought after menu item returns.

Adding to its meatless menu options, Subway recently announced its latest partnership with plant-based protein purveyor Beyond Meat. Starting September, 685 participating locations throughout the United States and Canada will be serving the Beyond Meatball Marinara sandwich for a limited time only.
Reimagining the menu favorite, the sandwich comes perfectly toasted and topped with the first-ever Beyond Meatballs blanketed with marinara sauce and grated parmesan cheese. Despite being meatless, the Beyond Meatball Marinara packs 24 grams of protein per six-inch sub. The new menu option serves as Subway’s move to introduce more plant-based protein options to meet the growing flexitarian diets of consumers.
Look for Subway’s Beyond Meatball Marinara sandwich to be available at select locations starting September.
STYLE: WHISKIE, WATCHES & VANS

Game of Thrones hype may have died down since the series concluded on HBO in May of this year. However for fans that are still looking to connect to George R.R. Martin’s hit fantasy will be able to do so with Johnnie Walker‘s new lineup of Game of Thrones-inspired scotch whiskies.
Aptly dubbed A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire, each bottle has then been dressed in beautifully-designed GoT-themed accents such as snow and a direwolf for A Song of Ice, while A Song of Fire features a contrasting look with flames and a dragon. The former features a blend of single malts from northern Scotland distilleries and features a clean, bright taste, while the latter is a smoky blend out of Scotland’s Caol Ila with hints of spicy notes and can be enjoyed on the rocks.
Interested fan can purchase A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire for $43 USD each, or $86 USD when ordered together.

OMEGA introduces one of its lightest watches to date. Weighing at just 55 grams, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light is constructed out of Gamma Titanium, an aeronautical titanium that is harder and lighter than conventional titanium.
Developed alongside professional golfer Rory McIlroy, the Aqua Terra Ultra Light watch features a push-in screw-down crown meant to prevent the crown from sticking into your hand when playing golf, or when bending your wrist. Powering the watch is OMEGA’s first-ever titanium movement — the Calibre 8928. Due to the material used, the movement appears dark-grey with nice contrast from the jewel bearing system. The Co-Axial escapement also features a resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss.
Priced at $48,600 USD, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light watch will go on sale early 2020, and will be avaialble in the colors red, blue and green.

After recently dropping its deconstructed Old Skool Cap LX “Regrind” pack, Vans has returned with another set of variegated sneakers, this time in the form of two brightly colorblocked Eras: “Rose/Orange” and “White/Blue.”
First up is the “Rose/Orange” silhouette, made up of vibrant pastel colors of pink, orange, blue, purple, yellow and red. Complete with white laces, the tongue comes in soft blue suede, complementing orange leather sidewalls and a pink vamp.
