Slighted in the Chesapeake Energy Arena and thus again starved of the opportunity to challenge his foil for the title, Kevin Durant has more than reason to return in the 2014-15 season with a vengeance. Nike brilliantly incorporates this into the KD7, the sequel to Durant’s successful signature KD6 – an aggressive, overtly athletic take on the player’s low top sneaker. Here we examine the debut colorway, dubbed “35,000 Degrees,” executed in a bold highlight orange color to signify the temperature of a lightning strike. The sneaker is outfitted with both Flywire and a securing strap across the lace box, ensuring support on the forefoot for quick cuts. The ‘lightning’ motif is further underlined by the sneaker’s ‘Volt’-colored outsole, which itself is inscribed with stratospheric graphics. Look for this hotly anticipated sneaker to arrive online and on shelves beginning July 12, and head here for more on the shoe’s design inspiration.
