Tonight New York City held the very first NBA Awards Ceremony hosted by Toronto Raptors Ambassador and basketball die hard fan Drake. Honoring the leagues best players and coaches, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook came out on top being named NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2016-17 season.
Westbrook, who had an amazing 42 triple-doubles during the season, thanked the Oklahoma City Thunder organization, his teammates, the media and his family in his speech and teared up when he mentioned his parents for helping him to where he is today. Also during his speech, Westbrook welcomed some of his teammates on stage behind him and thanked them for helping him to win the award. Westbrook averaged a tripe-double during the regular season with 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game. Check out Westbrook’s full speech above.
