Banksy has confirmed that a piece of graffiti painted onto the side of a house in Bristol, England is indeed one of his after uploading the artwork to his Instagram page.
The piece draws from one of the artist’s signature motifs, depicting a cupid with a slingshot alongside a smattering of “roses” on the wall. This explosion of flowers was created by painting ivy on the side of a house, and is joined by a small number of flowers on the nearby road sign.
Banksy’s new piece follows on from the recent Christmas mural Season’s Greetings, drawing just as much attention from locals this time around. As stated by The Guardian, the family who lives in the house are hoping to preserve the Valentine’s Day piece by covering it in glass. The family has said, “There’s been a lot of debate if it is a Banksy or not. Most people I’ve spoken to think it 100% is, and they’re naming it the Valentine’s Banksy. It’s incredible and beautiful.”
Futura 2000 and BMW have unveiled their collaborative M2 Art Car ahead of Frieze LA 2020. The collaboration sees the sportscar get an all-over graffiti treatment hand-painted by Futura 2000, giving the car’s bodywork a black and white makeover covered in the artist’s unique aesthetic.
Signature motifs such as dripping paint effects, speckled flecks and cloudy, smudged spray-painted designs are spotted all around the BMW M2. Adding to the dark theme is a set of blacked-out rims, a gloss black grille, dark-tinted windows, and an interior served up in black and grey hues to match the outside.
BMW has a long legacy in developing art cars, having previously worked with Jeff Koons, Cao Fei, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and many more. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, boot purveyor Dr. Martens has released a special collection to celebrate the holiday.
The capsule is comprised of the label’s iconic 1460 and 1461 boot, each crafted in a black leather outfit. Each model has then been embellished with a hand-drawn black and contrasting white “Wild Hearts” pattern, giving off an almost cheetah-like print. Both boots are then finished off with a one-off dual-branded sock liner, a welted DMS sole, contrasting stitching, and an AirWair heel loop.
The Dr. Martens x “Wild Hearts” Valentine’s Day 1460 and 1461 boots are available now at select Dr. Martens locations and Dr. Martens’ online store. The 1461 retails for $130 USD while the 1460 is priced at $160 USD.
