To celebrate Rive Droite’s re-edition of Sex, Madonna‘s groundbreaking book, Saint Laurent is set to host an exhibition at Art Basel in Miami Beach.
Curated by Madonna alongside Anthony Vaccarello, the exhibition will showcase large-format images from the book, in a bid to celebrate the previously controversial photographs unlike ever before. The images will be showcased in a temporary beachfront box structure built especially for Art Basel Miami.
Sex was first released back in 1992, and quickly became known for its provocative imagery and liberated views of sexual self-expression, something that wasn’t entirely popularized back then. Featuring imagery by Steven Meisel and written text by Madonna herself, the book remains a powerful artefact of the past, one that continues to spearhead today’s sexual revolution, at least in part.
To mark the book’s 30-year anniversary alongside its undeniable impact, Madonna and Anthony Vaccarello have come together to bring the book to life through Art Basel. The book’s re-issue, published by Callaway, will also be available in a bespoke run of 800 copies, created exclusively for Saint Laurent. A limited amount of the books will also be signed by Madonna, with proceeds donated to the Raising Malawi charity. Elsewhere, the exhibition will be home to branded T-shirts and tote bags for attendees to purchase.
The Saint Laurent gallery will be available to visit free of charge for those over the age of 18 from November 29 to December 4.
