Pen & Paper: Sam Parker

A self-proclaimed “obsessive workaholic” who works up to 80 hours a week, Sam Parker is rarely found not making art. In between tattooing, painting and participating in art exhibits, the Minnesota-born artist opened his sketch book to share some of his illustration work for our latest Pen & Paper. While Parker was introduced to art through the world of graffiti, it was during his university years where he honed his skills in painting and drawing, which lead to his fascination for tattoo art. Parka’s unique style is a cohesive mix of his creative tenure — gritty and raw yet tinted with a sophistication garnered from his academic years and personal experiences in life. In the drawings showcased here, graffiti-inspired shapes and curves are mingled with surrealist graphics and Japanese-inspired motifs. Abstract and endearing, check out Sam Parker’s work above and head to his webpage for more on the Atlanta-based artist.
