Nas‘ classic debut album Illmatic is still being celebrated 20 years later, as we get a glimpse of an upcoming film about the rap icon’s creative process. The film illustrates his upbringing and early influences, including his jazz musician father and the emerging New York rap scene of which he championed in the mid 90′s. Featuring interviews from Illmatic producers Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier and cameos from frequent collaborators Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys. In select theaters on October 1.
