A Closer Look at the Slam Dunk x Jordan Brand Footwear Collection

After releasing the initial images earlier this week, here we take a closer examination of the collaboration between Jordan Brand and Takehiko Inoue’s iconic Slam Dunk series. As Inoue’s popular manga is deeply influenced by Michael Jordan’s own career – specifically his rise to stardom – both the Super.Fly 3 and the Air Jordan VI play canvases to Slam Dunk storyboards. The likeness of protagonist Hanamichi Sakuragi can be found matted across the paneled upper of the AJ VI, highlighting moments of his rise in the 31-volume series and cleverly plotting the number ’10′ (Sakuragi’s jersey number) in place of Jordan’s signature ’23′. For the court-ready Super.Fly 3, Jordan Brand tapped Inoue to create a modern vision of Sakuragi, with the prints seen across the upper never to be published outside of the shoe. With endless details abound in this rare collaboration, pick up the Slam Dunk x Jordan Brand footwear at worldwide Jordan retailers beginning November 1.
