fragment design x Beats by Dre Collection

Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s latest project comes in the form of a fragment design x Beats by Dre collection. The endeavour comes as part of The Artist Series launched by Apple, where the world’s best and most beloved artists are allowed to use Beats as a canvas to tell a story. As a musician and DJ himself, Fujiwara has already had more than a taste of the music realm in which he pioneered new sounds by combining punk and hip-hop elements to create something completely unexpected. His minimalistic approach in the world of fashion transcended into this collection and we are presented with unique renditions to the Solo2 and Pill speaker. The Solo2 — Beat’s flagship headphone — has been customized in a neat gloss silver which is the epitome of boldness and refinement, while the Pill speaker features a matte white and gloss silver accents. fragment designs’ signature lightening bolt motif is then implemented, and hits of electric blue are seen on all the branded areas. When asked about the inspiration behind the design, Fujiwara said, “I wanted to make it like futuristic chrome, like some early science fiction movies.” Furthermore, the designer will be officially launching the collection during an exclusive conversation at the Omotsando Apple location in Tokyo on December 5 at 7PM JST, where he will talk about his inspirations and how this collaboration came to fruition. Make sure to stop by the store if you’re in the area and keep an eye out for the collection to release for $250 USD for each product on December 8 at Apple locations, as well as its online store.
