The Nordic countries are perhaps best known for their laid-back and ultra-minimal approach to street style, with a particular focus on innovative cuts and high-quality fabrics. Whilst this sentiment rang true during Oslo Runway Spring/Summer 19, the Norwegian capital also surprised us with the amount of vibrant, clashing patterns we spotted attendees in throughout the shows and presentations.
Wide silhouettes were key, with oversized jackets and wide-leg pants remaining a popular look, however alongside the typically neutral Scandinavian color palette, patterned styles in patchwork, leopard and checkered prints alongside graphic finishes caught our eye. When it came to accessories, classic designer bags by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Jacquemus’ teeny-tiny bag and the Dior Saddle bag that’s been on the arm of every it-girl were matched by kitsch, inflatable ’90s-style bags and pieces by homegrown brand Cala Jade. Looks that have been a strong trend throughout the past few months, like bucket hats and mini, matrix-inspired sunglasses were still going strong, as were chunky sneakers like platform Buffalos, adidas’ Yung 1 and of course, Balenciaga’s Triple-S.
