ORIGINAL STORY (March 15, 2020): Due to the recent coronavirus outbreak, Art Basel had to cancel its Hong Kong 2020 edition last month. However, the annual art fair has announced that it will be launching its first-ever Online Viewing Rooms – a new digital platform that allows artists and exhibitors from around the world to display their work in the virtual world.
One of the exhibitors is Simon Lee Gallery that will feature a selection of recent works that walk the line between abstraction and representation by participating artists such as Mel Bochner, Angela Bulloch, Bernard Frize, Donna Huanca, Claudio Parmiggiani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Garth Weiser, Clare Woods, Yun Hyong-Keun, and Toby Ziegler. A total of 231 galleries from 31 countries are set to showcase over 2,000 artworks worth over $250 million USD.
Art Basel VIP guests will have exclusive access to the VIP preview of the Online Viewing Rooms from March 18 to 20 at 6 p.m. HKT via their Art Basel account. Other visitors will have access from March 20 to 25 by logging in with their Art Basel account as well, or by registering for one online.
