Mike Dargas has given Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Mona Lisa a sticky makeover, showcasing his hyperrealistic style in which he covers portraits of people with dripping liquids. Aptly named Sweet Joconde, the limited edition print features Mona Lisa with honey covering her face, chest, hands and dress. Measuring 24 by 35 inches, Sweet Joconde 2020 is available in an edition of 30.

Roy Lichtenstein’s Girl in a Window Rare Poster

The MoMA Design Store has released rare posters in good vintage condition from the museum’s archive. A highlight of the collection is Roy Lichtenstein’s Girl in a Window, which was designed in 1999 for an exhibition in Rome, Italy. Lichtenstein depicts a smiling girl emerging from an open window executed in flat areas of color and Ben Day dots. Mounted in a white gesso frame, the rare poster is available in extremely limited quantities

The Jean-Michel Basquiat BE@RBRICK features an all-over print of a disfigured individual in the artist’s enigmatic style, while the bright yellow Keith Haring BE@RBRICK is covered in Haring’s iconic figures in different colors.

David Shrigley’s My Rampage is Over Screenprint

Paddle8 is holding “Editions,” an auction that offers limited works from the most celebrated artists of the last century. Included in the auction is David Shrigley‘s My Rampage is Over, a screenprint that depicts a blue elephant sitting on its haunches, accompanied by the words “I must rest. My rampage is over.” While the image’s simplicity is characteristic of Shrigley’s cartoonish style, the elephant’s fatigued stance references the emotional and physical tolls that anger and frustration have on everyone.

From nighttime impressions to lilac morning skies, the works document moments that are beautiful in their present existence yet always fleeting.
