Dr. J Talks Fighting Larry Bird, Playing at Rucker Park, Joel Embiid and More

For the latest installment of Vice Sports Ride Along series, NBA icon Julius “Dr. J” Erving takes us on a drive down memory lane, in a new Lexus no less. The Hall-of-Famer touches of a myriad of topics ranging from his days at Rucker Park to the current 76ers team, however maybe best of all, the ’81 MVP opens up about his infamous fight with Celtics legend Larry Bird. “I had such great respect and admiration for Larry that I really just felt like choking him,” said Erving. “We ended up fighting one time, we fought to a standstill, to a draw, and then the next day we went out and shot a converse commercial.”
For another candid interview with an NBA standout, check out our recent tour Nick “Swaggy P” Young’s closet.

NEW MUSIC:

Watch the New A Tribe Called Quest Video "Dis Generation" by Hiro Murai of 'Atlanta'

A Tribe Called Quest have released a video for the recent We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service single “Dis Generation.” Having served up a powerful performance of the track for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Q-Tip and company link up with acclaimed Atlanta director Hiro Murai for the song’s visual. Just like the previously-released video for “We The People,” the “Dis Generation” video comes with a strong message attached to it. However, instead of focusing on the political arena, A Tribe Called Quest decide to keep the focus on the art of emceeing. Specifically, the ATCQ artists choose to present a sort of minimalist back-and-forth between artists and performers for their new clip.
You can view the video for “Dis Generation” above.
Listen to Joey Bada$$ & ScHoolboy Q's New Single "Rockabye Baby"
After announcing his sophomore album, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ earlier this month, Joey Bada$$ makes his return today with a new single from the project called “Rockabye Baby.” Featuring TDE’s own ScHoolboy Q, you’ll find both rappers exchanging sharp, witty verses over the silky Chuck Strangers production. Based on what we’ve heard so far, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ may go down as one Bada$$’s most politically charged albums to date. The project drops on April 7 via Pro Era Records/Cinematic Music Group; stay tuned.

AUTO: Here's What the Future of BMW and Rolls-Royce Might Look Like / Bentley's New 57.7 Gigapixel Ad Is the Highest-Res Landscape Photo on Earth

Here's What the Future of BMW and Rolls-Royce Might Look Like

BMW is giving us a look at the future of automobiles with its latest video. Aptly-titled “A New Era,” the short film shows off BMW’s range of brands from BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad and what we can possibly expect in the not very far future.
The BMW Motorrad concept motorcycle features a digitized visor that offers data right in your range of vision, while the BMW car is self-driving. The Rolls-Royce concept looks especially futuristic, with a “virtual chauffeur” that spells the height of luxury. Lastly, the MINI concept is customizable.
Check out the video above and see what BMW envisions is the future. In the present, BMW just confirmed that three new M8s will be scheduled to arrive in 2019-2020.
Bentley Flying Spur W12 S 57 7 Gigapixel Ad - 3772103
If you thought Bentley‘s San Francisco-set, 53 billion pixel shot of the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase was something to behold, wait until you see the British luxury imprint’s latest interactive ad. Highlighting the Flying Spur W12 S, the image is befitting of the fastest sedan of all-time: at 57.7 gigapixels, the image — which was captured from a camera perched atop one of the tallest buildings in Dubai — is the highest-res landscape photo in the world. And whereas that shot of the Mulsanne — which was 4,425 times larger than the typical smartphone photo and roughly the size of an entire football field — stitched together 700 individual images, this one boasts a whopping 1,825 individual frames that took 48 hours to capture and 18 hours to download in final form.
Head on over to Bentley’s website to explore those 57.7 gigapixels in full.

Crafted primarily of carbon fiber, the sleek design sports aero-optimized cross sections while the German-made “carbon components are handcrafted using prepreg materials and methods otherwise found only in motor sport and the aeronautic industries in order to guarantee the lightest weight and highest rigidity possible.” Naturally, the bikes even come in a bevy of colorways to match the high-powered Chiron.

FRESH KICKS:

Nike's Air Vapormax Surfaces In "Triple White"
“Triple White” has officially made its way onto the Nike Vapormax model. The silhouette is one of Nike’s latest innovations and we’ve already seen a ton of colorways of what to expect such as grey options, “Oreo” and more. The upcoming Vapormax model will be available for women and stay true to its innovative aesthetic thanks to its Vapormax Air technology and lightweight Flyknit upper.
There’s no official release date for these as of yet, but Vapormax fans can expect these to drop sooner than later this spring/summer season.

Nike Unveils a "Volt" Colorway of the Kobe A.D. NXT
Hot on the heels of a “Wolf Grey” debut, Nike has unveiled a second rendition of the unique Kobe A.D. NXT and shed some more light on the unconventional silhouette. Billed as a reaffirmation of the “reawakening of the Kobe line,” the design sees Kobe Bryant working alongside longtime collaborator Eric Avar to create a shoe unlike any previous Kobe model. Here, a new lacing system “functions to promote optimum containment during play by naturally adjusting to the athlete and providing a secure fit for each foot” and works in tandem with a Flyknit-constructed shroud. As for cushioning, the shoe once again goes with a drop-in midsole, in this case combining Cushlon with a Zoom Air bag and forefoot siping for added flexibility. The Flyknit upper even sports a subtle lotus flower-inspired circular motif throughout — a representation of rebirth — while secret codes translate to “unhinge” and “end and begin” on the lateral and medial sides of the shoes, respectively.
Like the grey version of the design, the “Volt” iteration of the Kobe A.D. NXT is due to be available on a limited basis come Saturday, April 1, before getting a wider release on Monday, April 3.
The Air Max 97 "Metallic Gold" Is Making a Return in Europe
With Air Max Day festivities now a figment of history, Nike turns its attention to celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Air Max 97 silhouette with a retro of the popular “Metallic Gold” colorway. Set to see a European release before hopefully making its way across the Atlantic stateside, the golden upper will return in all its glory with the iconic red mini Swoosh, white midsole, and instantly noticeable fully clear Air bubble and black outsole.
The Air Max 97 “Metallic Gold” is set to release at select European retailers on April 20 for $180 USD. Fans in the U.S. can purchase the “Silver Bullet” iteration on April 15 at select retailers in anticipation.
adidas Unveils the NMD_R2 in an Understated White and Red Colorway
adidas Originals has just unveiled the NMD_R2 in another colorway, this time appearing in white with flashes of red. The drop comes just two days after the company gave the NMD_R1 some love, remaking it in a sleek camo colorway, and now it has turned its attention to the R2 model. The shoe uses a Primeknit upper, tonal stripes and a white BOOST sole unit that’s accented by a red outsole and heel tab. The NMD_R2 launches next week on April 6 at all adidas retailers.
Nike Drops a Couple of Earthy Air Huarache Colorways
Nike is going in a decidedly different direction with its latest takes on the Air Huarache than it did with the bold “Afro Punk” look it debuted earlier this month. This time around, the Swoosh is opting for a couple of more understated, earthy looks for the retro runner. While one pair comes in a “Phantom” colorway that takes its gum sole and applies the same look to the silhouette’s signature TPU heel support wrap, the other appears in a combination of khaki and olive with a stark white midsole.
Two of the better Huarache drops to pop up in recent months, the “Phantom” and khaki releases can be picked up now via Caliroots.
