Hip hop stars Tyler, The Creator and Erykah Badu are all set to appear in an upcoming episode of Adult Swim’s Blaxploitation-inspired cartoon series Black Dynamite. Addressing perhaps the most contentious political matter in America today, the show’s plotline will center around the issue of police brutality – something that’s sure to generate a few headlines. While the show itself is ostensibly a comedy series, its co-writer and director Carl Jones isn’t taking the matter lightly. In a press release, he commented:

“As a comedy writer, I feel it’s my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue.”
The episode itself will run for a full 60 minutes (twice the show’s normal length), and sees lead protagonist Black Dynamite traveling to the “Magical Land of Oz-Watts” to save its community from the police. Airing on January 10th at 10:30pm, it’s sure to be worth a watch.
