Reebok Is Bringing Back the Shaq Attaq in 2017
Last year, Reebok resurrected the beloved Shaqnosis, opting for a colorway inspired by The Diesel’s stint as “The Big Shaqtus” in Phoenix, even throwing in its proprietary PUMP system for good measure. Now Reebok is doing the same with Shaquille O’Neal’s rookie kicks. And best of all? The drop stay true to the original.
Returning for the first time since 2013 and hot on the heels of last year’s Sneakersnstuff collab, the OG version of the Shaq Attaq echoes the look of 2013′s retro and appears to be a near one-for-one reproduction of the kicks Shaq donned on his way to PPG averages of 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.5 blocks for the Orlando Magic, and 1992-93 Rookie of the Year honors. Dressed in black nubuck and white leather with a dash of light grey suede, the kicks are highlighted by shiny “Orlando Blue” accents throughout, PUMP tech and Reebok’s first-ever use of Graphlite.
Retailing for $160 USD, the “Orlando Blue” edition of the Shaq Attaq will return to Reebok retailers sometime early next year.
The Nike Kobe 11 Mixes in a Nostalgic Gum Bottom for the Summer
Despite Kobe saying goodbye to the game of basketball, his Nike signature line hasn’t stopped making an impact. An upcoming release of the Nike Kobe 11 silhouette expresses some summer vibes with a white-dominated upper resting atop a gum rubber outsole. Throughout the silhouette you’ll also find teal detailing along its lateral and medial Swooshes, as well as its lining. In addition, red coloring makes its way on some of its Flywire and branding on the tongue and heel.
The Nike Kobe 11 EM Low “Summer” will officially launch on August 31 for a price of $160 USD at select Nike retailers and nike.com.
Nike and fragment Return With an All-White Zoom Tennis Classic
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Nike and fragment collaboration, after becoming accustomed to the many steady releases seen over the past couple years; however the brands have come together once again for a take on the Zoom Tennis Classic. The collaborative silhouette features an all-white, luxe 100% leather upper. Reptile texture in the grain keeps the look minimal yet interesting overall, while a hit of orange pulls the eye toward to tongue tag. Nike’s classic Swoosh is perforated into the side while fragment branding is embossed on the heel. Expect these to drop August 25 for €145.00 (approximately $159 USD) in stores and online.
the Parley x adidas Collaboration for World Oceans Day
Courtesy of the adidas Creators Base in Brazil, HYPEBEAST got a closer look at the all-sustainable adidas x Parley collaboration for World Oceans Day. The new running shoe makes use of recycled polyster and gill nets as well as a Boost sole unit. Parley’s signature Ocean Plastic is sourced from plastic waste found in Maldives and illegal deep-sea gill nets recovered by Sea Shepherd. Given what the upper is composed of it has a relatively snug fit, and features no insole but is supported by Boost cushioning. The brands have also opted for an original outsole rather than Continental.
adidas Futurecraft With a 3D-Printed Sole Unit
Showcased by adidas Creators Base in Brazil, was the 3D-printed Futurecraft. The performance sneaker is one of the first models to include an entirely 3D-printed sole unit, which inevitably happens to be slightly stiffer than Ultra Boost soles. The upper on this model is composed of an all-new knit which has been designed to be more porous and durable and a Continental outsole. This innovative approach means major change in how consumers buy their sneakers. The ability to 3D print a shoe in store, means shoes no longer have to spend up to 40 days on a boat after production — they can simply be made to size at purchase.
