The Jordan Brand Wings program was born from the need to support education and youth-focused outreach programs for high school and college athletes across the nation. Over the NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte, the program showed its continued commitment by presenting six high-school athletes with college scholarships during the “Own The Game” Invitational, which featured the nation’s most talented high school athletes and teams.
On top of the program’s Invitational, the brand also delivered its first-ever Air Jordan 4 “Wings” to the founder of retail conglomerate The Whitaker Group, James Whitner – given for his continued commitment to the community. The new iteration comes doused in black leather with royal blue and yellow accents scattered throughout the shoe. The shoe will remain unreleased and will be given to various deserving individuals who strive to employ the Jordan Wings program’s message and values.
Amidst a ton of releases slated for this weekend’s All-Star festivities, the Air Jordan 4 sneaks into the fold as a follow up. Its forthcoming “Silt Red” edition sees its upper dressed in light pink with contrasting black accents on areas such as its lacing wings, netted underlay, midsole, tongue and heel. You’ll also find touches of metallic gold on its top and bottom eyelets. In addition, Jordan Brand shares subtle volt hits to the front and rear of the tongue as well as the outsole. The colorway is finally topped off by tiny speckled detailing for a small touch of flair.
The Air Jordan 4 “Silt Red” arrives in women’s sizing on February 22 for $190 USD at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com.
StockX, the secondary sneaker marketplace, will be providing a home for the newly released Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared.”
Remember when Jordan earned his first ring with the ‘91 Bulls against Magic Johnson and the Lakers? Well, if you’re in need of a refresher, 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend and Nike are bringing that historic occasion back to masses with a rerelease of the very same model and colorway he wore during the game, the AJ6 “Black/Infrared.” The shoe’s construction is mostly built of black nubuck with accompanying ”Infrared” accents on the midsole, tongue and heel. Deviation from past models will be apparent with the switching of the Jumpman logo on the heel and insole back to the OG “Nike Air” detailing.
Jordan Brand is welcoming back a fan-favorite Air Jordan 1, but in a reimagined low-top version. The “Black Toe” color-theme is applied to the model’s ankle-high silhouette, with a few minor branding tweaks to boast. Here, the JB “WINGS” logo is moved from the ankle area to its heel, while its black nylon tongue features a Jumpman logo at the top and a “23” insignia at the middle.
The Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Low” is expected to arrive in the coming weeks at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com for $110 USD.
The Air Jordan 1 is back once more with a subtle luxe upgrade. Dubbed “Couture,” the forthcoming drop is delivered in a familiar color combination featuring a black base that’s contrasted by a sail outsole. Premium leather is used to construct the AJ 1’s upper while a thick red stripe wraps around each lateral and medial side. The aforementioned red stamp is said to be a nod to the intricate craftsmanship that goes into luxury cars – an appropriate addition since a few of Michael Jordan’s silhouettes are inspired by his favorite automobiles. Lastly, the “Nike Air” insignia on the tongues are also shared in bold red to match the previously mentioned stripe.
The Air Jordan 1 “Couture” arrives on February 23 for $175 USD at select Jordan Brand stockists and Nike SNKRS.
After months of teasing, Jordan Brand has abruptly dropped the Travis Scott x Jordan 1 Retro High OG NRG “Cactus Jack” on Nike SNKRS during the Houston rapper’s 2019 GRAMMY performance. Celebrating the riveting performance from La Flame, James Blake and Earth, Wind & Fire, the shoes became available on the exclusive platform causing a widespread suspension of service on Nike’s website.
Travis established aesthetic, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG NRG “Cactus Jack” features a mix of earthy brown nubuck and white leather accented by an interesting backward Swoosh design. Another unique detail comes in the form of a hidden stash pocket at the stitched ankle collar. Cactus Jack heel embossing, retro Nike Air tongue tags and mismatched insoles serve as additional branding elements. Finishing up the design of the shoe is an off white midsole and dark brown rubber outsole.
