Late last month, New Balance and Red Wing Shoes came together for a luxe brown spin on the classic M997 silhouette. Now, we’re providing a striking closer look at the forthcoming collaboration.
Notably, the New Balance x Red Wing Shoes M997 features high-end soft suede for the majority of the shoe’s upper region, with a slightly firmer cut for the mid-panel and “N” emblem in contrast to the slicker toe box and heel sections. “Tan leather lining, a red heel counter, branding on the heel tab and Red Wing-branded insoles round off” the design of this latest luxury interpretation of the M997, “while an off-white midsole” and red-toned gum outsole dominate the lower region. Throughout the shoe, premium Red Wing leather is used to give the shoe a stunning, well-constructed blend of heritage, street and dressier styling. Altogether, the shoe’s designers aimed for a “tonal palette” of brown, cream and red coloring to bring this new M997 to life.
You can take a closer look at the New Balance x Red Wing Shoes M9997 collaboration above. The sneaker will be available for purchase through Todd Snyder starting this Friday, September 20, while New Balance will begin selling the shoe this Saturday, September 21. The New Balance x Red Wing Shoes M9997 carries a price-tag of £259 GBP (approx. $322 USD).

Almost two weeks away from the start of the NBA Preseason, Nike and LeBron James unveil the LeBron 17, introducing an all-new Swoosh technology, Knitposite.
Evolving from the LeBron 16‘s Battleknit 2.0 upper, LBJ’s 17th signature sneaker combines Nike’s popular Flyknit construction with heat-molded yarns, enhancing durability, support and stretch-resistant; it also allows for fun coloring options.
“We wanted to blend the knit on the 15 and the strength of the Battleknit on the 16. The result is amazing. Once the heat is applied to the knitting process, you get this jewel-like armored exoskeleton that’s stuffed with these yarns,” says the designer of the LeBron 17, Jason Petrie. “It’s both structural and soft in the areas it needs to be.”
What’s more is that this model features the highest-volume heel Max Air unit in a LeBron shoe, providing added shock absorption for his explosive play and aging body. It also includes two independent Air Zoom pods under the forefoot for heightened responsiveness to LeBron’s downhill speed. Max Air in the heel and Air Zoom in the forefoot: the LeBron 17 is the ultimate hybrid cushioning system.
“The lateral and medial pods under the forefoot give him that response and comfort in conjunction with the Max Air bag,” says Petrie. “The way LeBron sees it, he wants to feel confident from the ground up. He doesn’t need help jumping. He wants to feel secure on the way down.”
Additional LB17 details include a myriad of logos and phrases on the tongue, such as LeBron’s crown, “I’m King,” “LJ,” “23” and more.
The Nike LeBron 17 is slated to hit Nike.com and select retailers on September 27, starting with the “Future Air” rendition, which features a grey and orange color scheme with an iridescent tongue and Swoosh.

Nike is continuing to reference the arts for the designs behind its Air Max 270 React range, shifting from impressionist art to the music world for its latest pack. The brand has reimagined five different genres for its newest editions, taking influences from heavy metal, hip-hop, reggae, punk rock and electronic music to create distinctive colorways.
Marking the brightest of the collection is the “Electronic Music” version, which is covered with hues of red, pink and crimson as a nod to the electrifying sounds of EDM. The “Heavy Metal” model is distinguished by its metallic Swoosh detail, which is featured in staccato gold and pops against the deep shades of blue and black on the upper. Meanwhile, “Hip-Hop” is covered in all-black paneling as a means to embody “the activism, love and rage needed for change,” as described by Nike.
“Reggae” is meant to evoke the lively and rhythmic spirit of its namesake genre through an earthy forest green and tan combination. On the flip side, “Punk Rock” pulls in more of a goth aesthetic, featuring a black upper with clean white underlays and logos for contrast.
Check out the music pack on Nike’s webstore, where each style is available now for $150 USD.

New Balance is taking a textural approach for its latest 997 Sport model, releasing the style in three new colorways that are cloaked in fuzzy, CORDURA paneling along the sides. The trio of colorways offer both bright and neutral options, including a bold “Prism Purple” and more muted options of “Stonewater” and “Steel.”
Each edition is constructed with a suede and nylon upper and the brand’s ENCAP technology at the midsole. The “Prism Purple” is the most radiant of the group and is coated in a rich shade of purple from front to back, while hot pink pops of “Carnival” on the toe cap and collar offer even more vibrancy. Meanwhile, “Stonewater” is featured with tan detailing throughout while select elements in teal provide contrast. Rounding out the set is the “Steel” colorway, which gets paired with shades of “Techtonic Blue” for a clean combination.
The 997 Sport is priced at $120 USD, and available to shop now at New Balance’s webstore.
