Sneaking in under the radar, Omega has quietly announced its Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. Designed for professional use by by astronauts and pilots, the X-33 forgoes a mechanical movement in favor of a more accurate quartz system paired with a dual analog/digital display. Certified by the European Space Agency and soon, NASA, the X-33 watch is designed for situations in which a few missed seconds can mean the difference between success and failure, and will first be used by the pilots of Solar Impulse 2 — a solar-powered plane designed to circumnavigate the globe using nothing but the power from the sun.
