STYLE: JEANS & WATCHES
After linking up with G-SHOCK last year, animated band Gorillaz has unveiled a new collaborative project with Levi’s. The collection focuses on Levi’s signature logo, which has been reworked by artist and Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett. The four Gorillaz members — 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs — also feature on pieces throughout the collection.
Speaking about the collaboration, Murdoc Niccals described it as “another top collaboration featuring two of the world’s most iconic names: Levi’s and Murdoc Niccals. A marriage made in heaven, if I believed in either concept. The best thing is I get clothes with my own face on, which makes looking in the mirror twice as rewarding.”
The collection itself features denim jackets with spray paint-style graphics, as well as printed hoodies, T-shirts and tote bags, all of which can be customized. Fans of the band can choose from an exclusive library of Jamie Hewlett’s artwork, as well as altering the patterns, motifs, colors and size of designs.
Asked why Gorillaz decided to make the collection customizable, Murdoc explained that the band believes “in harnessing the creative power of our millions of fans. Plus, it saves a lot of designing our end, which means more time for our other hobbies. I’m training to become an MMA fighter, and 2D is learning the pogo stick.” Murdoc also went to add that “you’d be an absolute philistine not to put me on your denim” because “green and blue are side-by-side on the color wheel.” For 2D, there were other reasons to give fans more choice: “Decisions are really hard. Sometimes it takes me an hour to choose which scarf to wear. In the end I just choose no scarf, that’s why you rarely see me in scarves.”
The full Gorillaz x Levi’s collection is available for the next two months from the Levi’s print bar.
Louis Vuitton is set to release a luxurious take on coloring pencils. Presented as a roll-up case, the leather coloring pencil set sees LV’s signature monogram motif on the exterior, while on the reverse side, 40 wooden color pencils are individually slotted into place for carrying.
To secure the the pencils when on the move, a soft calfskin strip of leather can be fastened to a metal hardware ring to ensure that the roll does not come unraveled while in your backpack or tote bag. A nice detail can be seen on the monogram side, where each of the pencil’s respective colors are hand-painted in a circle to identify the position of each color.
Priced at approximately $900 USD, the Louis Vuitton Coloring Pencil Set is slated to go on sale in April, and would make for a great home accessory.
Casio reveals its latest G-Shock to celebrate the watch’s 35th anniversary. The G-Shock picks up from the 2015 Basel World Dream Project” GW-5000, a concept watch made from 18K yellow gold.
This time around, the concept is being brought to life in 35 examples. The “G-D5000-9JR” will see the impact-resistant square case, brand, and screws all cast from 18K gold. As with all G-Shocks, the watch comes packed with Casio technology and functions — the watch receives split-second time correction thanks to the use of radio wave tech from six stations around the world, and is powered via Casio’s Tough Solar charging system.
The craziest aspect of this watch has to be the price, as this limited edition G-Shock will retail for ¥7.7 million JPY (approximately $69,500 USD). Those interested will have to submit a pre-order to Casio’s web store on May 15, where it will later be shipped in December.
Patek Philippe is no stranger to high-priced timepieces — just last year one of the company’s iconic pieces sold for a whopping $642,500 USD — and now the brand is back with a watch that offers more diamonds than most modern day rapper’s jewelry collections.
This Patek Philippe Nautilus Men’s 40MM Watch comes with an 18K Rose Gold Bracelet and diamond-encrusted treatment on every visible part, from the bracelet to the bezel and the time-indexed dial. This iteration, based on the Nautilus’ 5980/1R-001 sub-model, is nothing short of an accessorizing dream, offering an automatic mechanism and a 1.6in face diameter that will drown all your onlookers in your immense drip.
Take a look at the beautiful watch above, and if you’re interested in purchasing the tantalizing timepiece is currently available via Vestaire Collective’s web store with a not-so-humbling price tag of $129,019 USD.

FASHION: Roberto Cavalli's FW19 Runway Show Is a Masterful Play on Color
While garments for cold weather tend to come in somber tones, Roberto Cavalli has delivered a much-needed color-packed Fall/Winter 2019 collection at Milan Fashion Week.
The homegrown fashion house, which is currently led by Creative Director Paul Surridge (formerly a creative consultant of Acne Studios), doesn’t shy away from the use of bold patterns and eye-catching hues. With a diverse cast of models — including show opener Selena Forrest, Grace Elizabeth, Bella Hadid, Adesuwa Aighewi, Ming Xi, Chu Wong and Yasmin Wijnaldum – the catwalk featured a contemporary take on the tiger prints that have become synonymous with Roberto Cavalli over the years.
The animal print is reinterpreted with a blend of vibrant colors that work so harmoniously on a double breasted coat, flowy dresses, head-turning tops and even a furry crossbody bag. Each look is completed with thigh-high, black leather boots or mules, as well as matching gold and silver necklaces, earrings and bracelets that induce accessory envy. In a later part of the show, the pattern reappears on a chic, off-shoulder jumpsuit, except this time in a mix of more muted hues.
Magenta, icy blue snakeskin, black leather, snowy cream whites and sparkly golds that exude nighttime elegance are other main motifs that run across the co-ed show.
Before the FW19 show began, we headed backstage to check out the hair and makeup prep courtesy of Dyson. To highlight the statement-making silhouettes, the makeup looks were kept fairly minimal, with chiseled cheekbones and gently defined eyes as the main focus. Female and male models alike were given the slicked-back hair treatment with the use of the hairstylist-favorite Supersonic hair dryer. To add some interest to the hairstyles, models were given dramatic side parts.

FRESH KICKS: NIKE / JORDANS
Nike is ready for the spring season debuting the Air Force 1 in “Floral Rose.” The low-top sneaker has a delicate flower print on the upper that is accented with a crisp “Summit White” hue. A pastel pink serves as the backdrop for the outline of gray blooms and leaves. This pair definitely deserves a spot in your Spring 2019 AF1 rotation.
Fans will be able to cop the AF1 “Floral Rose” on March 1 for $140 USD. Select Swoosh retailers like 43einhalb will stock a full run of women’s sizes.
Street style star and fashion insider Aleali May is gearing up to release yet another sneaker design. This time around she will be dropping her take on the Air Jordan 6 silhouette. Back in 2017, she teased this shoe via Instagram. The upcoming collaboration is a follow-up to the wildly popular Air Jordan 1 “Viotech” which featured a removable fur tongue accent.
The sleek model will arrive with an upper outfitted almost entirely in a feminine shade titled “Rust Pink.” Accents include the color “Bright Crimson,” a neon orange on the midsole, heel pull tab and other portions. Rounding out the women-centric sneaker is the opaque outsole which provides a distinct contrast.
At the moment, the Aleali May x Air Jordan 6 in “Rust Pink/Bright Crimson” are set to release in March at select Nike stockists. Stay tuned for the official drop date.
In related news, Nathan Bell teams up with Nike on a collaborative Cortez design.

Following up on a “Hyper Jade“ colorway with pops of turquoise and royal blue, Nike gives another update to its popular Air Max 270 silhouette. This time around, the sportswear giant revamps the runner in a clean “Pure Platinum” colorway, featuring an all-white look with hints of blue undertones on the air bubble and heel. This iteration also gives a slight alteration to the model’s usual design, where the shoe showcases more knit mesh panels throughout the upper, giving it a more sleeker form factor compared to its predecessors. Accented by 270 and Air Max branding, with a Swoosh in silver along the side, the “Pure Platinum” suitably channels the current wintery weather with its icy colorway. Pick up a pair at Nike and select retailers in the coming weeks.
One of Jordan Brand‘s most sought-after silhouettes is set to make its long-awaited return. Just in time for the 15th anniversary of the original Doernbecher Freestyle collection, the Air Jordan 6 “Doernbecher Freestyle” is once again up for grabs.
Jordan Dark first designed this Air Jordan 6 a decade ago in 2009, when he was undergoing chemotherapy in Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The dates of his first and last days of chemo — 06/08 and 04/09 — are embossed on the suede upper, with tonal stripes for a sporty touch.
“Midnight Navy” up top contrasts with the “Varsity Red” accents on the tongue, heel and midsole, a nod to Dark’s high school team colors. The outsole is another all-important touch, as it was the first-ever semi-translucent outsole ever used on an Air Jordan 6. Gold touches on the collar and tongue complete the premium design.
The Air Jordan 6 “Doernbecher Freestyle” drops on February 23 for $190 USD via Nike’s SNKRS app, and as usual, the proceeds will benefit Doernbecher Children’s hospital.
