Sacramento’s annual Wide Open Walls festival is back for the 2019 edition, setting up shop in the city from August 8-18. The event will allow several local, national and international artists to create murals and paintings throughout the city, as well as feature panels, parties, and other art-centric events.
The line-up includes names such as the New York-based Mars-1, who is known for his fantasy-like creations, the Miami-based multimedia artist Axel Void and nomadic painter and tattoo artist Beth Emmerich. Programming is set to include a press conference, a North Sacramento block party, a photo exhibition and book signing with Jim Prigoff and more.
Several of the activities are free but ticketed events can be purchased by visiting the Wide Open Walls website.
Last year at the festival, Shepard Fairey debuted a monumental Johnny Cash mural to pay homage to the Man in Black’s At Folsom Prison album.
