Nike’s Air Force 1 continues to see renewed interpretations of its classic silhouette, recently embodying a bold tie-dye design to a collaboration with G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE.
Now the Swoosh takes the revamp one step further by replacing the heel with an elastic strap, creating a sandal hybrid that looks similar to Crocs. The Air Force 1 VTF comes in a sleek black colorway with gold and metallic details around the logo, branding and sole. Maintaining elements of its time-honored form, the footwear features smooth leather along the upper and retains the design of its original ‘82 sole unit with cushioning Air Sole technology.
The VTF comes in Big Kids’ sizing and retails for $90 USD, available to purchase now at Nike.com.
The forthcoming, stop-start Woodstock 50 festival has drawn headlines for its drama-riddled lead-up, but assuming that everything’s now back on track, fans will have plenty to wear to the eagerly-awaited anniversary event. HUF has teased co-branded wearables and Nice Kicks and adidas are delivering their special tie-dyed UltraBOOST, the latter of which is the subject of our latest closer look.
Each sneaker features a classic multi-colored tie-dye pattern sublimation-printed on its knitted upper, a classic signifier of sunny days and good times. The semi-translucent cage and heel clip enable the vibrant blue, pink, yellow, orange and red details to take center stage, with white BOOST midsoles offering a clean counterpoint to the bold tones above. Red Torsion plates in the sole unit complement the matching Nice Kicks and Woodstock branding printed atop the insoles and tongue tags (complete with Consortium-branded eyelets), all set atop gum-hued outsoles.
Look for the summer-ready adidas UltraBOOST “Woodstock” to hit Nice Kicks’ site on August 17 for $180 USD, and get another angle via the Nice Kicks x Woodstock page.
This has been a good work for unconventional sneaker closure, with Alexander Lee Chang magnetizing a pair of Vans and adidas elevating the classic Stan Smith with dual buckles. The shoe drops the familiar lace-up vamp for a much sleeker strap-and-buckle set-up, not unlike a pair of double monk strap shoes.
Sporting smooth leather and its classic rubber outsole, the new Stan Smith is, if anything, equally as minimalist as its original iteration, with laces replaced by two pale gold buckles and white straps that keep the slim sheet of leather on its upper in place. A tonal leather heel panel keeps the shoe understated, complete with a slightly lower tongue that boasts white adidas imagery to match the base hue. The sneaker’s conventional branding is still embossed on the rear but otherwise remains free from overt branding.
Expect the womens-only Stan Smith Buckle sneakers to drop September 1 via adidas’ site for $120 USD.
ORIGINAL STORY [Jul 18, 2019]: Shortly after unveiling its Kyrie 5 “Spongebob Squarepants” and “Patrick Star” iterations, Nike has returned with its latest rendition in collaboration with Bandulu Street Couture.
The sneaker has been decorated by artist Pat Peltier, using the Kyrie 5 silhouette as the canvas for vibrant embroidery that bears the shape of paint splatters. Palettes of red, olive, beige, lavender and blue are placed sporadically around the uppers and toe cap, culminating in an artful expression of colors. At the top of the tongue is “Bandulu” branding, coming in a light green shade that also covers the inner neoprene collars. Mesh fabric lines the creamy beige uppers, contrasted with a firm lace cage etched with “Kyrie” and “Irving” on each respective foot. Hits of navy, green and brown paint drip over a white Swoosh on the lateral side, contrasted with a purple check on the medial. Other details like its red outsole and stark co-branding at the heel top off the footwear piece.
The Bandulu Street Couture x Nike Kyrie 5 PE “Light Ivory/Dark Orchid” is currently available on nike.com for $145 USD.
Gucci gives its low-top Ace sneakers a brand new makeover. Clad in black, the sneaker features accents in the house’s signature red and green colors.
The premium leather trainers features a large “GG” logo at the lateral side of the shoe, and also see metallic red and green on opposing sides of the heel. The entire shoe is finished with cream-colored leather lining.
Those interested can find these now over at BROWNS for a price of $790 USD.
Nike continues to stylize its LeBron silhouettes with the bold new TITAN x Nike LeBron 16 Low “Agimat.” As its name suggests, this particular model is inspired by Filipino folklore and sees the addition of a new motif to the familiar silhouette: a lightning bolt symbolizing power.
The sneaker is comprised of a mix of textiles like neoprene, leather and rubber, doused in a deep blue-green palette. The upper collars are made up of soft neoprene, featuring a central zipper that covers a set of red symbols. Smooth leather overlays are placed below the collars, hosting a metallic gold Swoosh at the sidewalls.
Apart from the aforementioned lightning bolt and LeBron’s crown logo, the heels come etched with old writings inspired by the Bagobo tribe’s traditional armor. Rounding up the sneaker, a speckled midsole is set against a translucent air unit bubble and a light-blue gum outsole underneath the toe cap.
The TITAN x Nike LeBron 16 Low “Agimat” will be available on August 31 at nike.com as well as titan22.com.
