IWC Schaffhausen spared no expense in unearthing pieces from its vault to benefit a children’s hospital in Brazil with business partner Antoine de Saint Exupéry Youth Foundation. The revered Swiss watchmaker teamed up with Sotheby’s to auction off the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “The Last Flight” (amongst other pieces). “The Last Flight” piece is of particular note for its composition: a brown ceramic case touched with a silky-matte finish; an elaborate ‘sun’ relief on the dial; pure platinum push buttons, crown, and caseback; a calfskin leather strap. By virtue of the materials involved, the watch was only produced in a quantity of 17, and was valued at 40,000 CHF when sold at the auction. Enjoy a look at this rare piece by IWC Schaffhausen, then be sure to head here to learn more about the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation’s work.
