Gucci Names Alessandro Michele its New Creative Director

Gucci Names Alessandro Michele its New Creative Director
Following the departure of Frida Giannini as creative director after nine years, Gucci will soon announce Alessandro Michele as her successor. Although relatively unknown to the fashion world, Michele, 42, took charge of the fashion house’s 2015 fall/winter collection after Giannini’s earlier-than-expected exit. He subsequently delivered an androgynous range of menswear that harked back to the sexy Tom Ford days of the label. As far as his resumé is concerned, Michele worked as an associate to Giannini, overseeing leather goods, shoes, jewelry and homeware. In September, he added the role of creative director of porcelain maker Richard Ginori 1735 SpA, which Gucci bought back in 2013.
