ART: KAWS & Disney Team up on Limited 'PINOCCHIO' Wooden Sculpture

KAWS recently took to his Instagram to announce the launch of his PINOCCHIO wooden sculpture (15.35 x 7.48 x 7.09 inches) made in collaboration with Disney back in 2017. For the release, interested buyers needed to head over to KAWSONE.com to enter a random drawing in order to purchase a piece for approximately $8,000 USD. The sculpture is a signed and numbered edition of only 100 units. All pieces were meticulously crafted by Karimoku with the help of Medicom Toy.

Kicking off its Spring/Summer 2018 releases, /017 recently put together an editorial for CMMN SWDN‘s latest collection.

Subdued in tone, the new photoset from the Canadian retailer highlights the impeccable tailoring and simple details found throughout CMMN SWDN’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Expressing the inspirations of the “Tropical Deco” collection, the summer-ready range from design duo Saif and Emma Bakir is displayed through simple styling. Some standout pieces featured include the retro Dixon Reversible Baseball Jacket, chain-detailed Black Jayson Pleated Shorts and luxe Suede Slides.

SPORTSWEAR: adidas Skateboarding Introduces Athlete-Designed "Skate Copa" Jersey Pack

Fresh off the release of the new “ADELANTE” skate video, adidas Skateboarding has unveiled plans for a new release known as the Skate Copa Collection.

Billed as an athlete-designed jersey line, the Skate Copa run’s creation was motivated by soccer and skating’s abilities to unite people from different cultures. Mark Gonzales and the Brooklyn Creator Farm collaborated closely with professional skaters Blondey McCoy, Na-kel Smith, Tyshawn Jones, Marc Johnson, Miles Silvas, Daewon Song and Rodrigo Teixeira to create the collection, producing eight different designs.

“The theme that seemed to coincide with everybody was that they hated a negative vibe,” Gonzales explains via press statement. “I played with various phrases and one that stood out for us was ‘Negitve Energy, Posetive Peopel’, so I thought to do a design and put it on each of the jerseys.”

Specifically, the items come in long, short-sleeve, v-neck and crewneck varieties; the clothes boast Climalite fabrics and unique, striking details like “oversized stripes, color-blocked necklines and embroidered accents.”

Comfy with Kellz

What is up everyone? I hope you are all doing well. I myself am playing catch up over here at the V/SUAL HQ. I have been itching to get around to some unseen photosets this week. With that in mind I jumped into this shoot I did with Kellz while staying at the Mondrian in Miami. 

This was the first set of our shoot and decided to give it a relaxed/comfy feel with the imagery. Aside from the wardrobe Kellz ability to relax in front of my camera helped a ton. STREETWEAR: The Hundreds Teases Graphic-Heavy 'The Karate Kid' Collaboration Daniel vs. Cobra Kai all over again.

Over the past few months, streetwear stalwart The Hundreds has issued a spate of eye-grabbing collaborations, ranging from Animaniacs to IT, most recently linking up with the BIGFOOT monster truck company. Now, the LA label is introducing a range that touches on a one of the most famous films shot in the area — The Karate Kid.

Though the full range hasn’t been officially revealed yet, the teaser images showcase a pair of LA-made, graphic-heavy sweatsuits. Each set of matching hoodies and pants are fully emblazoned with referential imagery and The Hundreds branding, recalling the patches seen on martial arts Gi. Daniel and Cobra Kai-themed iterations are both present, with the latter swapping Daniel’s headband design for authentic Cobra Kai-themed imagery across a black base.

Meanwhile, The Karate Kid is receiving a revival, with a new series starring the original leads scheduled to debut via YouTube Red on May 2.
