Although factory errors can be a nightmare for sneaker collectors, sometimes these defects can actually be a blessing in disguise. One lucky sneakerhead really got lucky when he received a pair of “Reverse Shattered Backboard” Air Jordan 1s with upside down Swooshes directly from Nike.
A rare error from the sneaker giant, the size US 7 shoes are valued at 900 times what it retailed for when it re-released earlier this year. Most interestingly, only one side of the pair features the upside down flaw that skyrocketed the value of the shoes.
Set to go for €125,000 EUR (approximately $146,000 USD), the one-of-a-kind factory error Air Jordan 1 “Reverse Shattered Backboard” will be available via Dropout Milan in the next few weeks.
Nike’s Air Max 97 has already hit our pages multiple times this week, one in a “Red Orbit” motif and another sporting a “Baroque Brown” makeover, in a sense setting the stage for this new “Sequoia” rework. A mix of leather and mesh dressed in a deep forest-style green invades the upper, with subtle hits of “University Red” found on the side and tongue Swooshes adding a hint of tonal contrast.
Sitting below, we see a white Air-centric midsole and a multi-toned rubber outsole, helping to cap off the new colorway, while further extending Nike’s ever-growing AM97 catalog. Priced at $160 USD, the new Air Max 97 “Sequoia” will make its debut via Nike’s online shop sometime in October. Stay tuned for updates.
Looking to take advantage of Nike‘s footwear technology, Jordan Brand is kicking off its release of new models that utilize the emerging React foam cushioning with the Jordan Apex-Utility.
Set to arrive sometime in 2019, alongside four other new sneakers, the Jordan Apex-Utility serves as a futuristic update of the Air Jordan 1 with functional elements led by the React technology. From the first look we can see that the upcoming shoe features a Flyknit upper covered with a translucent shroud complete with adjustable heel straps and flight-inspired printed details. No official details have released just yet, but it appears that the Flight Utility lineup will be centered around a technical look and features sculpted React sole units. The basketball division already utilized the cushioning system once before on its Super.Fly 2017, which saw the React midsole paired with a lightweight mesh upper and a wrapped rubber outsole.
Check out the Jordan Apex-Utility above and stay tuned for more information regarding Jordan Brand’s upcoming Nike React models. Head over to Nike.com for more details.
