After months of unfettered anticipation, Travis Scott and Nike‘s new Air Force 1 “Cactus Jack” has been officially announced. Although it’s Scott’s third go-around with the Air Force 1 Low, this new makeup boasts a completely new style and a vastly different inspiration from the rapper’s previous duo of special makeups, serving as a workwear-inspired homage to his Texas roots.
Combining a medley of sturdy, hard-wearing materials — duck canvas, corduroy, flannel, leather, suede, burlap, wool and camouflage — the shoes present a patchwork-style look with a mixture of earthy tones, rough textures, and printed graphics. Of special note is the removable lace cover on each tongue that’s secured with a heavy-gauge brass zipper and the snaps on each heel, which provide a call out to Scott’s childhood home of Missouri City, Texas. Special “Cactus Jack” text and jagged prints appear on the quarter, while a white midsole with lime green contrast stitching and a timeless gum outsole complete the look.
The overall workwear ethos also serves as a dual-pronged nod to Scott’s tireless work ethic, a trait that’s enabled him to stay in a perpetual state of motion both creating music and performing it. He’s played dozens — if not hundreds — of shows during 2019, all while releasing his first #1 debut with Highest In The Room and continuing to push 2018’s Grammy-nominated Astroworld.
Scott’s fourth footwear project of the year after an Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 1 Low and Air Jordan 6, these new Air Force 1s will release in men’s, preschool and infant sizes on November 16 via Nike SNKRS and select global stockists. The retail price for the men’s pair is $160 USD, while the preschool pair is $75 USD and the infants pair is $65 USD.
11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi and Salomon have returned with the latest installment of their footwear collaboration, this time around utilizing the ever-popular GORE-TEX technology to upgrade the selection. Alongside equipping their chunky Bamba 2 sneakers with the waterproof fabrication, the brands have also unveiled a rugged new boot silhouette to serve as a seasonal addition to the range.
The Bamba 2 shoes are crafted in leather and jersey along the upper, and come coated in the similar copper and “Patina Grey” tones that made up one of last fall’s key releases for the model. Details like a concealed lace-up closure and transparent rubberized trim give the style a contemporary feel, while “S,” “11,” and “GORE-TEX” emblems stamp the sneakers with branding throughout.
Bringing in newness to the collaboration are the hefty GORE-TEX boots, which are offered in a black edition and a fresh “Patina Green” version. The upper is constructed of nubuck suede and textile panels for a layered aesthetic and is distinguished by a perforated design throughout. Faint smudge marks are applied along the green colorway for a worn-in look, while the black keeps things simpler with subtle grey logos that provide contrast. It’s finished off with a padded collar, pull loop and treaded rubber outsole.
The 11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi x Salomon Edition Bamba 2 High-Top Sneakers are priced at $545 USD, while the 11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi x Salomon Edition 2 GTX 11XS Boots retail for $575 USD. Both styles are available now at SSENSE’s webstore.
