When Snoop Dogg and The Game teamed up to lead a demonstration at the LAPD headquarters this Friday morning, the rappers were met with a throng of newly graduated officers being sworn into the force. It was a case of coincidence rather than Tha Doggfather having deliberately scheduled to host the march at the same time of the law enforcement ceremony, as per KNX 1070.
The rappers met with Mayor Eric Garcetti and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck—to show the pair that the demonstration was all about “peace, love and happiness … It’s not going to be frustration and anger.” Having added on Instagram: “We’re here to get some dialogue … some communication.” Talk of the demonstration had also quickly unfurled through The Game’s Instagram with a slew of supporters using the affiliated hashtags “#HUNT,” “#HATEUSNOTTODAY” and “#HUNTUSNOTTODAY.”
The Game said the purpose of the peaceful protest was “to make the Californian government & its law branches aware that from today forward, we will be UNIFIED as minorities & we will no longer allow them to hunt us or be hunted by us !!! Let’s erase the fear of one another on both sides & start something new here in the city of Los Angeles, a city we all love & share.”
The demonstration comes just several hours when snipers killed five Dallas police officers during a protest on Thursday—an apparent response to the recent deaths of two men who were killed by officers in Minnesota and Louisiana. Here’s what Snoop had to say about the Dallas assassinations above.
