Daniel Arsham is set to release a new sculptural edition entitled Hollow Figure. Drawing inspiration from the artist’s life-sized sculpture under his Architectural Anomalies series, the must-have collectible portrays the likeness of a human subject completely ensnared in a blown fabric. However, the existence of the figure disappears when viewed from behind. Collectively, versions of this sculpture have been exhibited at “The Fabric Workshop Museum in Philadelphia (2012), Carré d’Art de Nîmes, France (2009), and Museu Oi Futuro Rio de Jainero, Brazil (2017),” as per the artist in an Instagram caption noting the release.
Hollow Figure will see an official release on Daniel Arsham’s website this December 3 at noon EST. Sizing and pricing details have yet to be confirmed. Elsewhere, take a look at this week’s best art drops.
Brooklyn-based fragrance design studio JOYA and Arsham Studio teamed up on a special edition EXOPLANET CANDLE. The functional art object was inspired by Daniel Arsham’s firsthand experience at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory “where much of the focus is on the search for exoplanets,” said the artist in an Instagram caption.
The hand-sculpted piece features a unique scent “that has permeated my exhibitions all over the world,” added Arsham. Limited to 500 units, the candle is set to launch this November 16 at 12 p.m. EST at Daniel Arsham’s website. Check it out above and let us know if it’s on your radar for purchase.
