Virgil Abloh recently gifted tennis champion Serena Williams an early pair of the Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 “University Blue.” The low-top silhouette is not slated to drop until later this year so Williams is the first to receive the standout colorway. The shoe is overwhelmed by a deep blue hue that is accented with a silver Swoosh and white text graphics. Abloh adds his signature to the sneaker adding tags like “FOR SERENA ONLY” and “AIR WILLIAMS.”
Fans first caught a look at this iteration via an Instagram post from 2018. No official release information has been shared yet but rumors suggest a limited drop is scheduled for June in both men’s and grade school sizing. Nike has yet to confirm this so stay tuned for more information.
Long-time Nike collaborator Virgil Abloh has been dropping sneakers with the Swoosh for quite some time now, following the initial “The Ten” collaboration. We’ve seen a handful of classic silhouettes receive his signature Off-White™ makeover, and this weekend at Coachella, Abloh teased an upcoming shoe.
Initially shown as a prototype during Off-White™’s Spring/Summer 2019 runway show, the new sneakers seem to be a brand-new silhouette that we haven’t yet seen before. Sporting a tongue reminiscent of Nike’s Air Presto model, the shoe also features a black base, reflective Swooshes, branded lacing and is finished off with a green zip-tie. The pink rubber sole sports traction grips, perhaps influeced by the track-and-field-inspired looks from the designer’s SS19 range.
