Reebok has just launched its Crossover U campaign, inspired by Allen Iverson who wore the label’s signature Question Mid sneaker during his debut in 1996, and has created a new silhouette in homage of the athlete. Introducing the Question Mid Double Cross, Reebok has tapped a handful of designers to work on the campaign with the brand, with a campaign that will “leverage the crossover as a platform to celebrate those who embrace the unexpected in their creative work.”
Among the creatives is jewelry designer Martine Ali, who has built a cult following from her iconic chains, which are all handmade in her Brooklyn studio. Ahead of the campaign’s release, we had the chance to sit down with Martine Ali to chat about the campaign, Allen Iverson and inspirations.
Just in time for fall, Nike has dropped its signature Air Jordan 1 Mid silhouette in a crisp new coloway. This time around, the cult-favorite sneaker arrives in a “Fossil White” hue, sporting cream-colored and shiny panelling across the upper, accented by a white midsole. Finished off with Nike’s Swoosh branding at the lateral as well as the signature Air Jordan emblem, the trainer is the ultimate piece to add to your seasonal rotation. Perfect for wearing with your favorite cozy hoodie and jacket, you won’t regret investing in this pair.

As with the seasons before, sneaker collaborations were all over the SS20 runways this fashion month. Global sports brands have seen the indisputable power of partnering with both emerging and established designers on limited-edition drops and next season’s lineup already looks set to be a hit. With updated instalments to existing partnerships from the likes of Reebok, Pyer Moss and Chromat to debuts from Telfar x Converse, there were sneakers for every style and occasion.

COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Dunk Low

COMME des GARÇONS is no stranger to a Nike collaboration but this season, Rei Kawakubo unveiled two semi-transparent iterations of the Dunk Low sneaker. Produced in women’s sizes, each of the shoes has black-tinted plastic uppers with darker finishes on the heel and Swoosh on the lateral side. One is seen in tonal black and the other favors a similar finish but with white “cdg” lettering peppered throughout.
Reebok by Pyer Moss Fury Trail

Designed intentionally to be visibly split into three layers, Kerby Jean-Raymond’s interpretation of the Reebok Fury Trail was a standout on the runway. The laceless shoe with a concealed tongue and mixed-material upper fuses traditional textile with 3D elements, giving it a futuristic feel. Completing the look is a chunky, trail-inspired split sole. These kicks were spotted in two colorways on the runway however are set to release in additional color options come Spring 2020.
Telfar x Converse

Telfar Clemens’ eponymous brand saw the designer work with Converse on a series of shoes: the Pro Leather, ERX and classic Chuck 70 for the season ahead. Inspired by the archives, the collection focuses on both iconic and retro basketball silhouettes from the ’70s update with bold, unmissable graphic patterns that match the apparel.
Chromat x Reebok Energy Return

Putting its own unique spin on Reeboks new Energy Return silhouette, New York’s Chromat opted for thre contrasting color options: neon green, deep blue with neon green flashes and white, red and blue. Each of the sneakers has a mixed-material upper with subtle panelled construction, inspired by the deep sea and space exploration. The sculpted midsole gains height towards the heel, giving these kicks a practical yet trend-led feel.
Anais Jourden x Nike Air Force 1

Not technically a collaboration, Hong Kong-based designer Anais Mak chose to customize Nike Air Force 1s to pair with her SS20 collection shown during Paris Fashion Week. Focusing on the timeless white silhouette, Mak streamlined the shoe by stripping away the laces and adding stunning, 3D metal plates in silver and gold surrounding the lace section on the midfoot. While this was a partnership produced solely for the designer’s runway show, we can’t help but hope these see a wider release.
