Continuing on their longstanding collaborative efforts,
Ronnie Fieg has taken to his personal Instagram account to tease another upcoming
ASICS sneaker.
Already spanning numerous years and various models, this time around the duo focus their efforts on the
GEL-KAYANO 5 OG, an upgraded model paying homage to its 20-years-old
GEL-KAYANO 5 predecessor. The picture shared by Fieg sees the shoes placed into the sand, helping to suggest the summer-ready colorway should be dropping sometime soon.
Crafted from an array of mesh, suede and leather panels, the shoe’s outfit takes on a mostly white and grey palate. The summer tones of orange, mint, and red then find their way onto the tongue tab, inner liner, midsole and outsole. Take a first look at the forthcoming ASICS GEL-KAYANO 5 OG shared by Ronnie Fieg above.
Yohji Yamamoto and
adidas have come together once again for a triple black rendition of the
Y-3 Raito Racer. In true
Y-3 style, the Raito Racer adopts a technical profile and is yet another super-minimalist offering from the collaborative powerhouse.
The soon-dropping “Black-Y3/Black-Y3/Ftwr White” version features a black Primeknit upper speckled with white threads and a stretchy white and black collar. It sits atop a black BOOST sole unit taken from adidas’
I-5923 silhouette, which is paired with a Quickstrike outsole for added traction and durability.
“Raito” in Japanese means “Light,” and so the focus of the Raito Runner is to keep everything as light as possible. Its Quickstrike outsole is molded right onto the BOOST midsole, reducing unnecessary weight, while an all-new lightweight lacing system has been implemented for an updated look which offers increased structure and support.
Rounding off the Y-3 Raito Racer’s look is a pair of suede overlays towards the toe box and an embroidered Y-3 logo on the tongue. The sneaker will release on July 15 for £279 GBP (approx. $348 USD) at retailers such as
Sneakersnstuff.
In partnership with Concept Kicks,
Timberland‘s CONSTRUCT 10061 imprint is set to drop a set of highly-conceptual upcycled shoes. The project brings together a wide variety of creative minds to reshape Timberland’s signature silhouettes, utilizing thoughtful recycling techniques to create a series of limited-run footwear styles.
CONSTRUCT 10061 brings together a wide range of creatives that include knit specialist Suzanne Oude Hengel; footwear deconstructionist Helen Kirkum; Peterson & Stoop;
jeffstaple; Solene Roure, VF Corp creative director Alex Dardinski, Concept Kicks founder Daniel Bailey and more. The imprint’s initial release centers around four progressive revisions of the iconic
Timberland 6-Inch boot, bringing to life four models from
the first wild CONSTRUCT 10061 series.
Concept:06 and Concept:20 are the first shoes in the series to see production, each designed by Dutch duo Peterson & Stoop, with Kirkum collaborating on the heavily patchworked model. Made from discarded leather scraps, this model sports a direct inject sole comprised of re-used leather and polyurethane. Peterson & Stoop’s signature Wavy Stormwelt construction informs the white and brown Concept:20, with David Mawdsley providing the stacked sole, Hengel serving up the padded collar and Nathan Alexander Walker designing the lace placement.
Expect Kirkum and Peterson & Stoop’s work to hit Complexcon in an edition of 31 pieces each for $310 USD. Whatever stock remains will join two other styles (seen below) on
CONSTRUCT 10061’s site later this year. The website also showcases
the eye-popping 95 distinct styles from the upcoming Season 2.
