In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Takashi Murakami began creating prints and calligraphy on recycled Chemex coffee filtersKumi Contemporary is now releasing black and white versions of Murakami’s coffee-stained flower prints, titled Coffee Blues Black and Coffee Blues Morning. After brewing coffee in the morning, Murakami places the filters in a bucket to dry, which he then disinfects with alcohol and treats with a liquid solution. Measuring 11 by 11 inches, the coffee filter prints depict Murakami’s signature smiling flowers in monochromatic colors on top of the faded brown coffee-colored background. Each print is available in an edition of 50.

Indonesian artist Roby Dwi Antono’s childlike subjects are coming to life in a new project with Unique Board. The pair have teamed up for UB’s first-ever collectible augmented reality works of art. This new way of collecting and experiencing art comes in the form of limited edition AR sculptures called The Little Girl from Outer Space“73 / ‘86 and A Faint Dream. Available in an edition of 50, the AR works show the artist’s large-eyed children dressed in astronaut gear or blasting off into space. The limited edition sculptures make art more collectible and accessible than ever before.

Migrate Art has announced a new charity auction that sheds light on the widespread destruction of crop fields in Iraq. A total of 14 artists have created new works using paint pigmented with ash gathered by Migrate Art from the thousands of acres of wheat and barley fields that have been scorched by these fires. Along with the Scorched Earth prints, two limit edition screen prints using ink pigmented with ash by Shepard Fairey will also be available. All proceeds from the auction will be shared between Migrate Art and their three charity partners supporting those affected by the global refugee crisis: RefuAidRefugee Community Kitchen and The Lotus Flower.

Along with a new exhibition at Oakland’s Good Mother Gallery, Jocelyn Tsaih has unveiled a print, called Dance Til Ya Can’t, with online gallery for affordable contemporary art DROOL. Available in two sizes, the giclée illustration print is covered in Tsaih’s faceless figures in bright blue and orange. Their dancing forms are surrounded by phrases like “Dance Til Ya Can’t,” “Fridays 10 PM Til Late” and “Worldwide.” “This poster commemorates all the late night dance parties you’ve been to, whether out at a show or in the comfort of your own home in your underwear,” DROOL explains.
