Nike has treated its Air Max 270 to a number of makeovers, appearing in Bowfin, React ENG, and Travis Scott renditions, and now the sneaker appears as the Air Max 270 Vistascape.
Its inaugural colorway combines “Light Orewood Brown” with “Chile Red” and “Newsprint,” which coupled with its technical sensibilities, gives the sneaker a retro ACG vibe.
The base is made from soft ripstop and is overlayed with reinforced suede panels at the toe, vamp, mid-panel, and eyestay. A semi-translucent TPU heel counter acts as a guard over a blue base, and it also serves as a mechanism where webbing straps run through it, allowing you to change the fit of the shoe.
More webbing can be found on the mid-panels, running down the side while locking the technical toggle-equipped rope lacing system in place. A yellow breathable mesh tongue, brown mesh lining, and a red mini swoosh on the rear-quarter round out the Air Max 270 Vistascape’s upper.
For the sole unit, Nike combines Air technology with a Storm-Tread Wet Traction rubber outsole, which should assist you on slippery surfaces.
The Nike Air Max 270 Vistascape “Light Orewood Brown/Chile Red/Newsprint” is set to release sometime later this fall on Nike’s website for $170 USD. LeBron’s signature line has long served as a testing ground for Nike Basketball’s latest and greatest tech innovations, and on the LeBron 18 designer Jason Petrie has opted for a hybrid mix of Zoom Air and Air Max to bolster LeBron’s unique mixture of speed and power.
“[Nike Basketball has] combined Zoom Air and Air Max in shoes a bunch of times” says Petrie. “The last time we fit Zoom and Max together in a shoe’s heel was [2007's] Air Force 25 — but they were stacked.” On the LeBron 18, the Swoosh’s two most famous cushioning technologies are pieced together more like a puzzle, with the Zoom Air bag wedged into the cavity between the heel’s Air Max cushioning unit and the Knitposite 2.0 upper. “It’s like a 3D puzzle piece” continues the designer who’s worked with LeBron since the LeBron 7. “We wanted to maintain a consistent surface at the footbed while joining these two elements together.”
Apart from its high-tech build and striking new mid-cut silhouette, the LeBron 18 is digging deep into storytelling with its first four colorways. The “Empire Jade” is inspired by the Chinese emperor’s stamp and features a special tassel. As its name indicates, the “Multicolor” provides a vibrant assemblage of hues atop a crisp black base. “Los Angeles by Day” offers a sandy upper with sunny City of Angels-centric detailing on the heel, and “Reflections” nods to significant moments in the King’s career with a special printed graphic plus gold details.
The Nike LeBron 18 “Empire Jade” will kick off the launch slate with a Greater China-exclusive release on September 21, with the “Multicolor” arriving in Greater China on September 24, then globally October 9. “Los Angeles By Day” will release globally November 6, and “Reflections” will arrive later in the year. All will be available on Nike SNKRS, and retail prices have yet to be announced.

Uppers are built from supple gray suede, with a signature detail arriving via SBTG’s camouflage print on the lateral and medial Swooshes. Though the Swooshes provide the most dashing pop of flair, they’re far from the only notable tweaks. Custom tongue badges and lace deubres combine SBTG and Staple branding, with heels split between Staple’s pigeon graphic on the right foot and SBTG’s Arabic spellout on the left foot — both done in orange-pink. Intentionally yellowed tongues and midsoles round off the look. On the apparel front, the hoodie arrives in black and places a large embroidered pigeon graphic on its chest, done up in SBTG’s camo pattern to match the shoes. Masks arrive in a two-pack of grey and pink with solid crossbones and camo outlines adding flair.
If you’re looking to get your hands on a pair of the SBTG x Staple Pigeon Nike Dunk High “Pigeon Fury,” there’s two ways you can go about doing it. The aforementioned raffle is free to enter at the Staple webstore, and you can gain another entry by purchasing a hoodie ($78 USD) or a mask pack ($35 USD). The contest runs until 3 P.M. EST on September 20, and winners will be allowed to purchase a pair for $1 USD. NTWRK will also be giving away a pair of shoes and a hoodie via a live drawing at 7 P.M. EST on the same day.
Jordan Brand has debuted its Holiday 2020 “Modern” collection — not to be confused with the forthcoming Holiday 2020 Air Jordan Retro lineup — centered around the new Spiz’ike 270 Boot and featuring fresh takes on the Delta and Zoom 92. Offering both men’s and women’s styles, the collection may be modern in name and technology, but also taps into Jordan Brand’s deep reservoir of classic silhouettes and cultural cachet.
Stomping onto the scene as the “Modern” collection’s centerpiece is the Spiz’ike 270 Boot. A beefed-up version of the classic Spiz’ike, the Spiz’ike 270 Boot contrasts its recognizable upper with a bolstered mudguard, Mars 270-style midsole with an Air Max 270 cushioning unit and a boot-style outsole with extra-deep tread to combat inclement weather. A duo of construction-boot style tan makeups will release alongside a gray pair with Nike ACG-inspired neon accents and an all-black makeup.
Next up is the Delta. Two men’s styles and two women’s styles are present — the former duo draws from both Nike ACG product and Jordan Brand’s iconic “Infrared” color scheme, while the latter pair uses a cool “Guava Ice” scheme and a “Hyper Royal/Bright Crimson” mix above a sail base. Last but not least is the Zoom 92. Supplied in a whopping six colorways — three for men, three for women — most offer traditional mixes of black and red with varying pops of color, but one women’s makeup is a direct tribute to the beloved Air Max 180 “Ultramarine.”
