The MR-G “Arashi-Tuchime” G2000HA-1A is the newest addition to Casio G-SHOCK‘s top-end lineage. This timepiece is created using a traditional Japanese hammering technique and made in collaboration with third generation master craftsman Biho Asano, who “individually hammered each bezel, resulting in an artistic, titanium sword guard finish on every watch.” Each piece is one-of-a-kind due to the textured hammer tone on the bezel, which boasts shades of copper and deep violet inspired by the murasaki-gane metal and suaka copper material.
The MR-G G2000HA-1A’s sapphire, crystal, and titanium case and band are created using a special hardening treatment that makes it several times stronger than regular titanium. The watch is solar-powered and has a three-way time sync automatically regulates via Bluetooth or GPS. Other standard G-SHOCK details include 200-meter water resistance, world time in 39 cities, LED super illuminator light, alarm clock, stopwatch, countdown timer, full auto calendar and more.
The Casio G-SHOCK MR-G “Arashi-Tuchime” G2000HA-1A retails for $7,400 USD and will be available beginning in July 2018 at select jewelers and at G-SHOCK Soho in New York City.
Jacob & Co. introduces the followup to its 2016 Twin Turbo, the Twin Turbo Furious. The carbon fiber titanium timepiece has an 88-part case with sapphire crystal dials and a red neoralithe inner ring near the “Jacob & Co.” logo. The Twin Turbo Furious features a 50-hour power reserve displayed at 6 o’clock between its twin high-speed tourbillons.
It is also regulated by two triple-axis tourbillon regulators to compensate gravity’s pull on the regulating organ that’s integrated with a mono-pusher chronograph. The stopwatch mechanism incorporates an original reference time indicator near the power display in minutes and seconds that users can set up on the crown. The pit board wheel then allows reading the variance in seconds — in relation to the reference time when timing events — as a nod to timekeeping panels used in motor racing from the side of the track. The Twin Turbo Furious also features a decimal repeater that chimes in ten-minute intervals past the hour.
With over 830 parts and 75 jewels, The Twin Turbo Furious will run you $554,195.25 USD.
Rolex is indisputably one of the most sought-after brands in the world of high-end timepieces, and its Cosmograph Daytona “Rainbow” may be the definitive collector’s item. Normally seen in yellow or white gold, the model has arrived in Everose, a warm shade that plays nicely with the rainbow-colored, sapphire-studded bezel. Eighteen-karat pink gold watch hands, matching 18k crystals and dozens of diamonds afford the watch even more sparkle — and an elevated price tag. Still, it’s nothing compared to the secondhand market, with experts recording secondhand “Rainbow” Daytonas trading for twice the price of retail.
Considering that the recent white gold “Rainbow” Daytona retailed for about $86,000 USD, expect this new iteration to go for even more.
After releasing the first-of-its-kind World Time Minute Repeater 5513R recently, Swiss watch maker Patek Philippe has now revealed another take on its Aquanaut model. The Aquanaut Chronograph Reference 5968a isn’t hugely different to previous models, but features a range of subtle updates.
The main new addition is a self-winding chronograph, which sits alongside functions including travel time and the classic time/date setting. Elsewhere, Patek Philippe have given the new watch — which comes with a stainless steel case — a variety of rubber strap options, including a bright orange design and a plain black version. Head over to the Patek Philippe web site for more information about the Aquanaut Chronograph Reference 5968a, with the model priced at 38,600 CHF (approx. $40,700 USD).
Rolex has unveiled its latest GMT-Master II watch, this time coming in an 18-karat Everose gold edition. The GMT’s came with an updated caliber 3285, 40mm diameter face, black dial, and a bidirectional 24-hour scale Cerachrom bezel.
HODINKEE reports that it also comes with a Chronergy escapement, which allows for an upgraded power reserve to 70 hours from 50. There’s no release date for the GMT Master II Everose gold as of yet, but it will cost CHF 35,000 (approx. $37,000 USD).
