New Line is developing a film prequel to HBO‘s 1999 hit The Sopranos by series creator David Chase. The film takes place in the 1960s during the Newark riots and will focus on the tensions between African Americans and Italians during those times. A few key characters from the series are set to appear in the film, but details of who have not been divulged as of yet.
“David is a masterful storyteller and we, along with our colleagues at HBO, are thrilled that he has decided to revisit and enlarge, the ‘Soprano’ universe in a feature film,” Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich told Deadline. Are you looking forward to a prequel to the gangster series?
