UPDATE (April 6, 2019): Reebok has released an official statement regarding Nick DePaula’s recount of Beyoncé’s alleged partnership meeting. The ESPN writer suggested that the lack of diversity of the Reebok team resulted in the partnership being turned down immediately. Read the statement below to learn more:
‘The report that Beyoncé walked out of a meeting with Reebok due to lack of diversity is categorically false. Our discussions with Beyoncé and her team continued for several months after our initial meeting. We are disappointed that false information is being reported as fact.”
adidas recently confirmed a creative partnership with Beyoncé that included a new signature sneaker, the relaunch of IVY PARK and more. On a segment of ESPN’s The Jump ESPN writer Nick DePaula revealed that other brands were interested in the deal including Under Armour, Jordan Brand and Reebok. He then goes on to relay that the Reebok presentation was cut short after Beyoncé reportedly questioned the team about the lack of diversity in the room. No one in the room was “of her background or skin color” resulting in her allegedly pulling back from the possible partnership. Reebok, an English footwear stronghold, has been a subsidiary of adidas since 2005 boasting partnerships with Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid.
Beyoncé has championed representation for women and minorities throughout her career so it is no surprise that she maintained this standard when it came to her athleisure brand.
adidas has announced a new creative partnership with Beyoncé and her lifestyle label IVY PARK. The deal includes signature footwear, apparel and the relaunch of IVY PARK, which Beyoncé recently acquired 100-percent ownership of. The Houston singer-songwriter shares her thoughts on the deal:
“This is the partnership of a lifetime for me. adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”
The Beyoncé x adidas partnership will include new performance and lifestyle gear that empowers the next generation of athletes, creators and leaders. Though the two are collaborating on its relaunch, Beyoncé will retain full ownership of IVY PARK, making her the first black woman to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z‘s On The Run II tour was a sight to behold. The high-power entertainment couple trailed through Europe and North America producing visually-stunning performances filled with personal moments and endless hits. For her second co-headlining tour, Beyoncé took her costumes to the next level recruiting custom designs from Mugler, Vivienne Westwood and Versace. In addition to her signature bodysuits and thigh-high boots, stylist Marni Senofante incorporated hats and masks to truly dazzle the crowd.
We’ve rounded up our favorite style moments from the unforgettable OTR II tour. Read on below and let us know your top picks.
Balmain
Olivier Rousteing was recruited to create an iridescent costume complete with leggy boots and a windbreaker to match. The two recently collaborated on a capsule inspired by her Coachella 2018 performance where she sported a bejeweled hoodie with custom graphics. This look set the standard for the rest to come.
Burberry
Burberry‘s comeback is now official thanks to Queen Bey. The luxury English label crafted a vintage check bodysuit with a cropped jacket to pair. Completing the outfit is a pair of matching sunnies and gloves.
Givenchy
Beyoncé stripped down her Givenchy gown into a form-fitting bodysuit for her joint numbers with JAY-Z. The long-sleeved garment is covered in star-like jewels that glimmer when hit with the light. The bow on the front says “Mrs. Carter” but the V-cut is more “Sasha Fierce.”
Gucci
For the peak of her two-hour set, Beyoncé sported a new design from Dapper Dan x Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Her signature hip-cut shorts are covered with the “GG” zippered overcoat which also complements her boots. To fully transform into Bonnie (of Bonnie & Clyde) she threw on Gucci’s FW18 balaclava mask which somehow didn’t affect her vocals.
Mugler
As the OTR II tour progressed, Beyoncé’s looks became more extravagant. She kicked off the series sporting a sleek black costume with a matching Mugler hat designed by creative director Casey Cadwallader. For the latter dates, Cadwallader created a stunning silvery suit with the same hat showcasing the evolution of the look.
Off-White™
Off-White™’s Spring/Summer 2019 neon gown was snatched straight off of the runway and delivered to Beyoncé for the last dates of her tour. The “Track and Field”-inspired garment has a T-shirt top that merges into a ruffled, neon yellow ball gown. This item was the perfect option for her ballad segment.
Versace
Versace’s ubiquitous baroque style has returned to the forefront of fashion thanks to Donatella. The gold, white and black patterning is perfect for the stage and looks even better on Beyoncé when backed by similarly-styled dancers. Though she was outfitted in a full-length cape and waist-cinching belt, she still delivered, as always, the performance of a lifetime.
Vivienne Westwood
Photographer Raven Varona caught the majesty of Vivienne Westwood’s cascading bodysuit at the right moment. It is clear that a lot of detail was paid to the off-the-shoulder catsuit which was accented with a flowing train. The asymmetrical sunglasses and the “B” ring are some of our favorite accessories from the tour.
