After revealing lifestyle-geared collaborations with the likes of Feng Chen Wang and AMBUSH, Converse is turning its eyes towards the performance market with the announcement of its Holiday 2020 basketball collection. An energetic assemblage of takes on the All Star Pro BB Evo, G4/G4 Low and Pro Leather, the collection offers a combination of modern-day performance tech and classic Converse style.
Ten total styles — three All Star BB EVOs, one G4, two G4 Lows and four Pro Leathers — are split across three packs: “Hi-Vis,” “Polar Lights” and “Black Ice.” “Hi-Vis” makes heavy use of neon tones and glow-in-the-dark detailing, “Polar Lights” offers a cool, unbothered look that’s inspired by the Northern Lights and “Black Ice” mixes matte and patent black tones with icy translucent outsoles.
From a performance standpoint, the All Star BB Evo offers a low-cut and sleek design with a fused mesh upper and a drop-in React foam midsole. It’s designed for players that play on their toes like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Oubre Jr. The G4’s high and low-cut iterations offers a more sturdy, supportive fit for brusing ballers like Draymond Green, but its mix of Zoom Air and React foam ensure it’s still light and comfy. Finally the Pro Leather supplies supple leather construction for off-court style, though it once soared above the hardwood on the feet of Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
Look for the Converse Basketball Holiday 2020 collection to roll out on the Converse webstore in the coming weeks, with retail prices ranging from $75-$120 USD.
