For those who prefer their watch without… actually having a watch on it, look no further than AMBUSH‘s latest jewelry offerings. Indeed, the Yoon Ahn-helmed label has dropped two pieces of stainless steel jewelry modeled after famous watches, with one dubbed the “Rollie Chain Bracelet” and the other the “Timeless Watch Bracelet.”
As you might be able to tell from the name, the “Rollie” is modeled after a Rolex‘s bracelet — specifically the Presidential, a.k.a, the “President.” Coined as it was loved by numerous USA Presidents, this bracelet now appears in a classic silver-tone finish and features the quintessential three-piece layout, alongside AMBUSH branding on the clasp and sizing on the inside.
Additionally, the “Timeless Watch Bracelet” sports a close semblance to CASIO‘s signature A168WG-9EF digital watch. This classic design has been reinterpreted also in stainless steel, this time around finished in a gold-tone, and of course, it features no face.
Everything down to the “buttons” on the side of the watch’s “bezel” has also been cast in stainless steel, while branding on the back case and on the clasp rounds out the design. Both of AMBUSH’s pieces can be seen above and purchased on HBXnow, with the “Rollie” costing $412 USD and the “Timeless Watch” costing $740 USD.As part of the Californian brand’s springtime stylings, Vans is remixing a trio of its signature sneaker silhouettes with the colorful “Meadow Patchwork” pack. Blending disparate checks, plaids, paisleys, floral patterns and more, the Sk8-Lo, Era and Slip-On all sport mismatched prints, rendered in pale sunny shades.
All three makeups juxtapose contrasting printed panels atop the canvas uppers, drawing from warm weather flowers and picnic tables alike with a variety of light golden hues. Not unlike the recent “Bandanna” pack kicks, all three of these staple skate shoes are realized in light yellow and brown, contrasted with the occasional bit of stark black for gentle visual appeal.
Accompanying the plaids and paisleys is a tonal leather Jazz Stripe on the Sk8-Lo, matching laces and white soles for each of the sneakers, keeping the light, breezy vibes intact. There are also subtle differences between the models, like aforementioned leather accent, the black trim on the Slip-On and gold eyelets on the laced sneakers.
The first two styles in the “Meadow Patchwork” pack are available at Vans’ websiteand stores. Two new watches joining G-SHOCK‘s range-topping MR-G line take their inspiration from the armor of Japan’s Samurai warriors.
Not only do the oversized watch heads bring to mind the traditional silhouette of a Samurai’s elaborate armored helmet but these two new models make use of kachi-iro or ‘victory color,’ a dark navy tone that the Samurai associated with winning and would use to decorate their armor for luck in battle. Here it is used as an accent color on the watches’ bezel, hands and dial.
Another traditional Japanese motif, that of Uroko-mon, a triangular scale pattern, is used to bring texture to the dials.
While the MRG-B2000B uses a bezel formed from the same hardened and DLC-coated titanium used for its case and bracelet, MRG-B2000R is further embellished through the use of a titanium bezel, recrystallized using a heat treatment to bring out a distinctive pattern reminiscent of ‘nie’ crystals present in Japanese swords. The watch is finished with a rubber strap featured a bishamon kikko relief.
Both watches are powered by Tough Solar, are water resistant to 200m and feature Multiband6 radio-control, Smartphone Link, dual time, stopwatch, alarms, countdown function and LED illumination.
Both models are available now via G-SHOCK, priced $3,000 USD.Back in 2016, adidas (XETRA:ADS.DE -0.37%) was releasing limited-edition NMD R1sneakers like the white-and-black “Digi Camo” version that stirred as much hype as a pair of YEEZY BOOST 350s. Over the course of its five-year run, the NMD line became less popular among sneakerheads as the industry transitioned back to chunky sneakers and, more recently, Dunks from Nike’s SB line — but now, adidas is looking to revive the sneaker back to its former glory with pairs such as this, the NMD R1 “Cloud White/Grey One.”
Served in a cleaner but somewhat similar makeup to the aforementioned “Digi Camo” pair, this NMD R1 features an upper constructed entirely from Primeknit and is served on top of a full-length BOOST sole unit. Stability-supporting EVA instep plugs are strategically placed at the forefoot and heel, with the former sporting “Grey One” adidas branding.
Elsewhere, the pair is fitted with a TPU heel clip that’s embossed with adidas’ signature Trefoil logo, as well as a TPU lace cage system that, this time around, features white rope laces as opposed to the flat laces that frequent the NMD line. A tongue and heel loop also appear, while a stretchy collar and a webbed rubber outsole also finished in white round out the pair’s look.
The adidas NMD R1 “Cloud White/Grey One” is set to release at stockists such as Asphalt Gold on March 26, costing €169 EUR a pair (approx. $200 USD). For those who don’t know what 313 Day is, it’s a day in which Detroit celebrates its famous area code of 313, on March 13 — styled in the Americanized format of 3/13. So to celebrate, SNIPES has teamed up with Detroit’s leading basketball team to host a weekend-long traveling event in a co-branded mobile truck that will drop by the six Metro Detroit SNIPES stores, schools and community centers, selling the collaborative sneakers and giving away limited-edition apparel.
The sneakers themselves are a reworked Forum Hi and are inspired by the Championships of the Pistons in 1989-1990 and 1990-1991. As a result, the premium leather uppers are detailed with every archetypical adidas Originals design element you’d expect, such as Three Stripes on the mid-panel and a heavy presence of Trefoil logos, while apt details such as a “D” for Detroit has been embroidered into the heel using a collegiate font.
Elsewhere, the collaborative sneaker features the season embroidered onto the toe box overlay, reading ‘89 and ‘90 on the black pair and ‘90 and ‘91 on the white pair that you see above. The number of pairs per color has also been embroidered into the tongue and can be found under the adidas-branded tongue strap, while the second pair of laces round out the sneaker’s looks.
SNIPES will be driving around Detroit this weekend, which will be your only chance to secure the very limited adidas Originals Forum Hi in both black and white. The sneaker will be sold out the back of the truck for $110 USD.
