Nike pulled through with some of the best football kits we’ve seen for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, such as the record-breaking Nigeria national team jersey. But style and performance aside, Nike’s football kits succeed on the sustainability front as well.
This year, each one of Nike’s federation kits for the 2018 World Cup is made from at least 12 recycled plastic bottles. Nike’s Fast Fit Vaporknit kits (worn by Brazil, Croatia, England, Nigeria, Poland and Portugal) and Match jerseys (worn by Australia, Saudi Arabia and South Korea) are made with a fine yarn that’s created by melting recycled plastic drinking bottles. The bottles are shredded into flakes, turned into pellets and then melted and extruded into a high-quality yarn that’s both lightweight and light on the planet.
Nike is set to unleash a new colorway iteration of its popular Air Max 270 silhouette, adding yet another luxe rework to its already-extensive catalog. Last seen in a clean “Triple White” Flyknit variation, this new release sports an “Elemental Gold” motif, complete with white and “Light Bone” accents used to help complement its predominantly rich tonal scheme.
Placed below, we see a white midsole and black outsole, along with the model’s signature vertical-style heel bag. Expected to fetch a $150 USD price tag, the Nike Air Max 270 “Elemental Gold” is expected to debut online in the coming weeks ahead. Be sure to check back for future updates.
After a long hiatus, Nike‘s Air Max Penny jumped back on our radar in April with a comeback “Royal Blue/Gym Red” colorway. This time, the ’90s court classic makes another return in a clean white “White/Metallic Silver” color scheme.
This edition dons an all-white wash over its leather upper and sculptural heel unit, which sets the stage for a silver metallic Swoosh plaque at the side. Some light silver accents visit the heel pull tab, ankle collar, embroidered branding at the tongue tab and 1 cent heel logo for some subtle detailing, while reflective 3M piping adds some flash in certain lights.
The Nike Air Max Penny 1 “White/Metallic Silver” will release on August 1 for a retail price of $160 USD at Nike’s web store and select Swoosh retailers.
