One of Paris Fashion Week Men Spring/Summer 2020’s biggest shows, Virgil Abloh‘s latest Louis Vuitton presentation may also be his boldest. Packed with lush color and eye-popping craft, the collection wholly expands upon the progressive concepts introduced in his first two LV runway shows, delivering an appreciable range stuffed with floral detailing, lavish accessories and essential new footwear silhouettes.
A robust color palettes sees classic Vuitton staples, like the Soft Trunks and Keepall bags executed in saturated blue leather and pale green felt, all accented by Abloh’s now-signature chain detailing and plentiful monograms. The stand-out piece, of course, is a Keepall imagined in handmade organic texture, covering the surface with an array of faux flora that almost obscures the bag itself entirely. The gardener-friendly motif carries over to the cushy bucket hats, baggy monogram shorts, chunky sunglasses, branded gloves and painted or embroidered flowers on the wallets and leather jackets, respectively.
Meanwhile, the footwear alone made for a strong showing, with tall rubberized rain boots bolstered by a new set of hikers, all in tonal colorways or punched up with floral panels. As for Abloh’s prized sneakers, the 508 high-top and a new running sneaker style both surfaced in opulent suede makeups. Washed-out beige accents appeared on the bi-color kicks, elevated by monogram shapes on the heel, logo’d-up lace locks and a treaded outsole.
