Earlier in the month A Ma Maniere shared a selection of teasers surrounding its Jordan Proto-Max 720 “Atlanta Nights” collaboration, and now we’re able to preview the sneaker up close. Before today, the Atlanta based retailer also tapped T.I. to star in its editorial where the entire design was fully unveiled. The Flight Utility-inspired model from Jordan Brand is expected to be a highly limited release – 230 pairs to be exact.
The sneaker’s shrouded upper receives an attention-commanding upgrade thanks to its reflective coating while the heel’s signature strap welcomes profound branding which reads “MY WAY.” Moving down towards the midsole is a blacked-out Air Max 720 unit with a subtle “A OVER EVERYTHING” stamp on its rear. Underneath the aforementioned Air Max unit is a glow in the dark outsole to complement its reflective upper. Lastly, small branding hits are spread throughout the sneaker from its pull tabs to around its base to close things out.
Shortly after showcasing LA-inspired Cortez colorways, Nike presents an update design language for the iconic sneaker. Here, the majority of its construction remains the same thanks to a white leather upper that’s joined by university red and obsidian details found on the Swooshes, heel tab and midsole. The model’s eyestays and heel tabs however feature additional layers, while the sole unit is double-stacked to complete the exaggerated look.
The Nike Cortez Basic SE is currently available at select Nike Sportswear stockists and Nike.com for $90 USD.
Adding to its already expansive footwear range, Gucci recently applied an arched GG print to its New Ace Sneakers.
This time around, the low-top white buffed leather sneakers sport a grey, yellow and red retro logo print applied to the midfoot areas and a new three strap velcro lockdown system. Additional decorative detailing on the round toe shoes include padded tongues and collars, along with logo stamped red and green heel tabs. Rounding up the design of the Velcro New Ace Sneakers are tonal treaded rubber soles and silver-tone hardware.
Priced at $750 USD, Gucci’s Velcro New Ace Sneakers are available now at SSENSE.
Turning its focus back on the Air Trainer Huarache, Nike recently gave the ’90s model a “White/Topaz Gold/Black/Electro Green” makeover.
The latest iteration of the football, basketball and training inspired model features clean white leather base uppers accented by yellow/green neoprene booties and overlays, along with hits of black at the heels. Large “NIKE” branded midfoot straps serve as a prominent detail and assists the traditional lacing system found on the shoes. Elevating the new colorway are simple two-tone black and white sole units.
Priced at $115 USD, the Nike Air Trainer “Huarache White/Topaz Gold/Black/Electro Green” is available now at nike.com.
David Bowie is arguably one of the most influential artists within popular culture – the ground shattering artistry of the late innovator has made a lasting impact on today’s music, fashion, and cultural industries. Now, his saga continues with the latest capsule collection from Vans, who has aptly infused his legacy in the form of four of the imprint’s most iconic silhouettes: the Slip-On 47 V DX, Era, Old Skool, and Sk8-Hi models.
Relishing in Bowie’s most notorious works, including famed albums Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, and Aladdin Sane, Vans has eloquently immortalized the artist’s legendary impact in the form of four varied sneakers. The first of the collaboration, the Slip-On 47 V DX, features an ode to Hunky Dory, dousing the sneaker in a vibrant yellow suede, mixing it up with a checkerboard faux fur, lastly emblazoning the sole with the album’s title. The Era relishes in its ode to Space Oddity, featuring an all-over print reminiscent of the album’s cover, finishing it off with “Space” marked on the lateral portion of the Sole. The Old Skool and Sk8-Hi models feature an ode to his alternate persona Ziggy Stardust, utilizing lightning bolt prints and embroidery to aptly transmit Bowie’s alter-ego.
You can check the collaborative sneakers above. The various shoes are currently rumored to drop on April 5 via Van’s web store and accompanying stockists, with retail prices set between $65 USD and $80 USD.
