FRESH KICKS: NIKE AIR / REEBOK 58
Air Huarache retro fever may have peaked a couple of years ago, but Nike is looking to recapture a little of that magic with its latest re-release for the iconic Tinker Hatfield-designed runner. Dubbed the Air Huarache Run ‘91 QS, this drop isn’t just any Huarache. Instead, the Swoosh has offered up a design that harkens back to 1991’s original in the underrated White/Game Royal-Black-Dynamic Pink colorway. Here, the kicks not only pay homage to the silhouette’s original build, but even swap out the ubiquitous Huarache badges on the neoprene tongues in favor of the OG’s more prototypical Nike-branded tags.
Fans can pick up this homage to a classic at Tokyo’s atmos beginning this Saturday, October 28, while a more widespread release is sure to hit NSW spots across the globe before year’s end.
Way back in January of this year, Reebok unveiled one of its more unusual silhouettes: the 58 BRIGHT ST Instapump Fury Boot. Essentially a premium, winter-ready take on the already one-of-a-kind Instapump Fury, the rugged update swapped out the runner’s original honeycomb Hexalite cushioning in favor of a chunky boot sole unit and leather additions to boot.
Now, however, it looks like the sportswear giant may have one-upped that creation with its latest 58 BRIGHT ST model. Dubbed the 58 BRIGHT ST DMX ALPHA10, the new kicks make use of a comfy deconstructed suede upper, executed in low-top form and paired with the brand’s DM tech. As for support, a toggle lacing system covers the upper to provide a customized lockdown fit for the sock-like design.
Debuting in an out-of-this-world “Asteroid Dust” colorway, the 58 BRIGHT ST DMX ALPHA10 is available now via atmos in Tokyo.
Perhaps one of the more underrated silhouettes of the year, Nike’s Pocket Knife DM debuted earlier this year in olive, black, and white looks before getting a trio of colorful NikeLab makeovers. Now, after returning in “Desert Moss” earlier this month, the kicks are back in yet another look befitting of its ACG lineage. Seen here in a classic “Linen” look, the latest drop employs a tried and true combo of purple and gold for the cinched laces while black accents appear throughout.
Capped off with an asphalt-like look for the midsole, the Pocket Knife DM “Linen” will soon be available via Nike Sportswear spots worldwide.
